Is it possible to add a dialog tab dedicated for religion to the detail of person? It could be the same as contact tab. Custom tag is not the best way it - is time-dependent.

Thanks

Thank you for your suggestion.  We had a similar discussion regarding documenting spiritual / religion history.  Do you have specific fields you want added?  Feel free to post a sample screenshot of the dialog.

Documenting religion is difficult.  Back in 2007, I purchased a book about all the religions in the world, so I can do a good dialog on the taxonomy/classification of all religions.  I want to have a clear vision of what to add to a new dialog, because once a field is added, it cannot be removed without breaking compatibility.

I think, that could be very simple tab like on this picture:

Religion could be automatically filled by values entered by me in whole project - similar to places:-) so there is no need for taxonomy or something similar.

And with this there could be added another tab called Events like on this picture:

Here could user add a lot of events happened in individuals life - buy first car, kill somebody, earn first million of dollars...:-) and of course religion events.

It would be great if this events will appear in calendar in narrative report...

I can see value in an Events tab but why the need for a Religion tab?

A person's religion is effectively already recorded in the Birth tab where the Religious Record is held. How often does an individual's religion actually change?

I think there is a danger in cluttering up the individual Properties display with something which would only apply to a very few.

I have a lot of people i my family history who was born as roman catholic, then abandoned their religion. After some period without religion somebody enter in other religion - became a Muslim due marriage in Muslim country, then they divorce, abandon Muslim religion and enter again in some of catholic religion. Or they "travel" between catholic religions - from roman catholic to seventh-day adventists etc.
That "spiritual travelling", change in their life is possible to describe now only in comments...
I'm sorry for my english, but it is hard to describe situation :-)

Thanks

Your English is fine, Pavel!

I understand your reasons which are obviously relevant to your family. I would, however, prefer to go with your "Events" suggestion which could be used for multiple purposes including your religion recording. My concern is that if other users come along with similar event-based suggestions which are equally important to them, we would have a multitude of tabs which are used by only a few.

We have a similar situation with fields on the General tab such as Home Phone, Email, etc. which were duplicated into that prominent position (even though they are also held in the Contact tab and equally usable from there) and I am sure used by only very few. And I continue to struggle to understand why!

I understand your point of view, so I tried to generalize my suggestion for wide use - I think, that if Events tab will be included in future, it will be quite good for use even if there won't be a religion tab. But I tried it :-)

BTW 2:Something like my suggestion - Events tab, has a lot of others genealogy software, so it is not so out of view:-)sometimes it is very sophisticated functionality...

BTW: I think, that contacts couldn't be a special fields on tab, but something like table with one column with type of contact(email, icq, skype, facebook, blog page, phone...) (with behavior similar to place - once you use icq, it will be shown as possible type of contact) of contact and address(value) of contact in second column, so there could be various types of contacts even if you don't know them in nowadays...
