I have recently started using 'genopro'..I have this querry :is it necessary to update display colors -border as well as background, for each individual separately? Why not assign specific color set for ALL males & ALL females & same gets updated automatically..? This will save considerable work.

It is possible. Use table layout http://www.genopro.com/help/table-layout/ to select males and change color for males. The same for females. See tutorials http://www.genopro.com/tutorials/videos/ also.

You may select multiple individuals, and change all their colors simultaneously. To select individuals, you may use the Table Layout. For instance, click on the Gender column to group all the males together, then select all the males, close the Table Layout, and press Enter which will bring the Display tab where you may change the color.
