A small problem:
In GenoPro-2016 v.3002,  "Check for updates" always responds

Connecting to GenoPro.com to determine if a newer version of GenoPro is available for download...
You have version 3.0.0.2 which is the most recent update.

Although, I think, the current version is 3.0.0.4

Yes, I was waiting for the confirmation regarding fix when generating a report to http://familytrees.genopro.com before updating the database.  There has been a few minor updates 3.0.0.1, 3.0.0.2 and 3.0.0.3 however most of the updates were not worth mentioning.

The Check for Updates now gives the following results:
 - New presentation screen displaying instructions to use GenoPro along with a sample family.
 - New command line (/open) to open a .gno file from a database on a remote server via webservice.
 - New menu items to open and save document to a database on a remote server.
 - Improved Problem Spotter to detect any invalid dates in sources, places, pictures and other hidden objects.
 - Fixed connection problem when uploading an HTML report to http://familytrees.genopro.com/
 - Updated 24 languages (Albanian , Catalan, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional/Taiwan, Croatian, Czech, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, French, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Lithuanian, Mongolian, Persian (farsi), Polish, Portuguese (Brazil & Portugal), Russian, Scots gaelic, Spanish, Swedish, Tagalog, Ukrainian) and added 3 new languages (Georgian/ქართული, Romanian/Limba Română, Yakut (Sakha)/Яку́тский Сахалыы).
 - Includes minor updates of updates versions: 3.0.0.1, 3.0.0.2, 3.0.0.3.

This does not work properly for me from GenoPro 3.0.0.2

The "Help" / "Check for updates" works OK, and offers "Install Genopro 2016 version 3.0.0.4"

But then the problem starts; If I click on the  "Install Genopro 2016 version 3.0.0.4" button, I immediately get two popup boxes, one on top of the other:

First box title "Downloading file InstallGenoPro.exe" , with options to "Save as", "Download", "Broswe", and "Close"

This box is almost immediately hidden by the second error box titled "GenoPro 2016" with the error message
" Unable to open "C:\Program Files (x86)\GenoPro3000\InstallGenoPro.exe"
and "File not found The file cannot be found in the specified folder"

There is a already a pre-existing folder on my PC;
"C:\Program Files (x86)\GenoPro3000";  which contains my previous GenoPro 2016 version 3.0.0.2 which I installed on 11th September 2015

Also I have more folders for other versions of GenoPro;
"C:\Program Files (x86)\GenoPro2541
"C:\Program Files (x86)\GenoPro2016
"C:\Program Files (x86)\GenoPro2903
"C:\Program Files (x86)\GenoPro2910

Regards, Martyn

Do you install GenoPro in a different folder each time you update?
By Martyn - Saturday, October 24, 2015
I sometimes, but not always install into different directories.

This is because I like to keep older versions of the program; in case I have problems with a new version, or a feature which I use has been removed from later versions and I need to temporarily revert to a previous version.

I have worked around the current "Update Genopro" problem by downloading version 3.0.0.4 from the website, and installing into a new folder.

Thanks, Martyn

By the way, most of our old versions are available in our archives at http://www.genopro.com/archives/

I Have the same problem. I downloaded the update 3.0.0.4 and install it on top of the old version. It was running fine untill today. Now, when updating, it shows the 3.0.0.4 version to update (although I already have this version) and the Family Line only shows 3 options when I had more before. Funny thing is, on that same Genogram I have created previously other Family Lines and when I open it it shows a forth option.

Why is this happening?

You are not alone having this issue: In the Options dialog (from the Tools menu), you may enable the option: Display Genogram Symbols for Family Relationships

It worked like a charm, but instead of enabling it I disable it and worked.

Thanks a lot.

What about the update bug? The one that keeps showing to update to 3.0.0.4 ?

What about the update bug? The one that keeps showing to update to 3.0.0.4 ?
Version 3.0.0.5 was released yesterday for a hospital storing their genograms (family trees) onto a remote server.  There was a problem with files names containing French accents not being decoded properly from the command line (GenoPro.exe /open=FileNameWithAccents.gno) as well as not displayed properly in the menus.  Since this customer purchased a site license, the simpler way to update their site license is to update the root file https://www.genopro.com/InstallGenoPro.exe , however I want to make sure the fix is fully confirmed before publicly announcing version 3.0.0.5.  Besides, unless someone is using web services to load and store family trees on a remote server, this update offers nothing new.
