How does the website determine the version of Genopro I am using for display against my posts.

In my case it still shows 2.0.1.4 but I moved on from that years ago and am now on 3.0.0.5   I can't find anywhere in my Profile to change it; is there some magic incantation I need to use ?

It's only a minor "niggle" but I keep trying to find out how to change it and finally have had to ask !

I don't know either but perhaps try an 'Online Backup' from GenoPro's File menu?

Create the Narrative Report from GenoPro2016  v.3.0.0.5 on familytrees.genopro.com...

When a webservice is called, GenoPro sends the version number, similar as when a webpage is requested, the version of the browser is sent, so the server can return data in a proper format according to the version.  To provide better support, we store this value in our database, so when we receive an email or a question on the forum which we know is specific to we update the version number.   If we see the user has the latest update, we don't bother to ask, otherwise we ask which version of GenoPro they are using.  Sometimes we have users reporting a bug which was fixed more than a decade ago, however never upgraded.

The easiest way to update your version is to do a check for update.

I've done quite a few "Check for Updates" from Geneopro over the last year or so but am still stuck with it showing 2.0.1.4.    Is it a manual process and have I just been missed ?

What I haven't done is an online backup - I have too many trees to want to manage backups that way rather than on a local NAS RAID array and other local storage.

The database entry is updated according to the email you provided while calling the web service.  Also, the update is not instantly visible, as the forum is caching user objects.

The good news is this whole saga will be history with GenoProX.  GenoProX already has a built-in chat, and we will use it to communicate with our users, and we will know what version they are running.
