While working I realized that the textboxes and comboboxes did not work properly anymore. I was adding some persons and without any logical reason the textboxes did not show the dropdown list with the already available values any more. The comboboxes gave the same result, but removing the already keyed in data did freeze the combobox. But it was possible, after canceling the update and reselect the person record to click the button on the combobox and then the dropdown list appeared and the value couild be selected.
It look like I met a limit in the design. Here are some data:
Individuals 32932 hyperlinks, 52160 males, 51610 females
Marriages 27903
Sources 60997
Places 3039
Picture approx. 12,000
Windows 10 Pro

After our Skype conversation, we discovered the Auto Drop Down List was disabled. To enable the Auto Drop Down List, right-click on a text input and you will get the following menu:
 Then select the menu item Display Below, to have the list display the list below the text input.
