Tried to create a new Narrative report with following log:

The file Code\local\ConfigMsgFI.xml is erroneous as it is not Finnish but a copy of the Italian file as you have observed. Please delete this file and then messages will be in English.
If you can provide a Finnish translation of Dictionary,xml then I can arrange for it to be added to GenoPro 2016 so that you will benefit from improved scripts in the latest Narrative Report. If in addition you can provide a Finnish translation of the GenoPro 2016 skins file Narrative Common/Code/ConfigMsgBase.xml then this can also be added to provide Finnish messages during the Report generation process, including the configuration parameters options.

Just to be sure that I've understood your message/brief correctly.
Question no 1: Do you want me to translate into finnish "Code\local\ConfigMsgFI.xml" and "Common/Code/ConfigMsgBase.xml" - for me they seem to be exactly the same?
Question no 2: Do you want me to translate into finnish "Code\local\ConfigMsgFI.xml" (today copy of the Italian file in spite of "FI" letters in the end) and Dictionary.xml (this file came along with latest download of Narrative Report 2015.05.05? I suppose you ment this but please confirm.
Question no 3: Do you also want finnish translations of Config.xml & NameDictionary.xml?
After your kind confirmation/instructions I'll start the work.

No sorry you have not understood correctly.
If you would like a Finnish Narrative Report skin for GenoPro 2016 then please provide a Finnish translation of the file " {EN} Narrative Report/Dictionary.xml" found under your Geno|pro 2016 skins folder. In fact this file is very similar to the Dictionary.xml found in Narrative Report 2015.05.05 and so if you already have a Finnish translation of that file there is very little to do. The attachment 'Dictionary Differences.htm' shows a side by side comparison of these two files with differences highlighted by a yellow or red background. Optionally you may also provide a Finnish translation of the file " Narrative Common/Code/ConfigMsgBase.xml" also found in your GenoPro 2016 skins folder. This will be used as ConfigMsgLocal.xml in the Finnish skin. If no Finnish ConfigmsgLocal.xml is available then when a report is generated any configuration messages wil be in English. For Config.xml I just need a Finnish translation of the phrase 'Narrative Report', I have tried Google translate but it gives too many options.

Dear Genome
Please find attached "Narrative Report 2015.05.05/Dictionary.xml" in finnish. I've made modifications:
a) according to your "Dictionary differences.htm" -file (painted in yellow or red background)
b) compared {EN}Narrative Report/Dictionary.xml and I think they are now on the same level
I attach also (if no use, throw away) into finnish translated "Narrative_2015.05.05/Code/Local/ConfigMsgFI.xml"
Just by curiosity is that (see above) ConfigMsgFI.xml same as "Narrative Common/Code/ConfigMsgBase.xml". For me they look very similar.
Now back to my original issue (error msgs):
a) do I delete "Narrative_2015.05.05/Code/Local/ConfigMsgFI.xml" -file and try again and the system uses EN -version as you described earlier?
b) should I create {FI}Narrative Report -folder and put the Dictionary.xml (2015.05.05) there? What about NameDirectory.xml and Config.xml?
c) should I also create the other {EN} folders for country {FI} ie. {EN} Ahnentafel Report, {EN} Ancestors Report, {EN} Descendant_Tree, {EN} Export to Gedcom
and {EN} Kinship Calculator?
You needed also a Finnish translation for Config.xml, phrase 'Narrative Report'. I think "Kerronnallinen Raportti" would be fine.

Thank you for the files. I have made further amendments to them and put together a Finnish skin for the Narrative Report see attached zip file. upzip directly into your GenoPro 2016 skins folder alongside the other skins. The only change to Dictionary,xml wasto add the tag 'SmallScreen' and I used Google translate to convert the English text Optimize presentation for smaller screen? to Optimoida esitys pienempi näyttö? You may wish to change this.
I made several changes to ConfigMsgFI.xml to produce C onfigMsgLocal.xml in the Finnish skin. To see these use a file comparison tool such as WinMerge. If you are happy that this Finnish skin works fine then I will ask Dan to include it in the next update to GenoPro 2016. Regarding your questions, which are possibly superfluous now that I have provided the above, but for completeness the answers are: a) Yes, delete "Narrative_2015.05.05/Code/Local/ConfigMsgFI.xml
b) Dictionary.xml and Config,xml are already present in the attached skin. You can add NameDictionary.xml to the unzipped folder if you wish, but you can also reference your NameDictionary.xml from a different place on your disc by using the Configuration Parameters setting.
c) You only create {FI} folders for skins that have a Finnish translation. If no translation exists then Finnish users continue to use the {EN} skins e.g. Export to Gedcom

While trying to Unzip the attached file "{FI} Kerronnallinen Raportti.zip" I'll get a message: "Unable to find software to open this file:" ?
Have I misunderstood again something or what should I do to get the job done?

If you have downloaded it to your PC with a .zip file extension then Windows itself can unzip it. Right click on it the downloaded file and select 'Extract All' and when prompted chnage the path to that of your GenoPro skins folder.

Hello Genome
I was able to Unzip the file "{FI} Kerronnallinen Raportti.zip".
I did not do anything else but re-started my PC and then I really saw a totally different menu than earlier inlcuding "Unzip".

I did an utmost tiny change to your translation and now it is in form; 'Optimoi esitys pienemmälle näytölle?".
After above mentioned tiny change I generated "Kerronnallinen Raportti" and got no errors - thank you!
I'd like to run other reports as well and therefore would like to ask should I also create the other folders for country {FI} (as there is for {EN}):
- {EN} Ahnentafel Report,
- {EN} Ancestors Report,
- {EN} Descendant_Tree,
- {EN} Export to Gedcom,
- {EN} Kinship Calculator?
Or does those 'other' reports (listed above) use somehow {FI}Kerronnallinen Raportti/*.xml files or how this apparatus work today?
After generation of Narrative Report I'd like to ask following:
I don't see any individual names when I press the Individual -button or the list header ("namedictionary" on the left).
Instead I see the names in Timeline and when I press Family -button I see names but if I eg. select one of them I'll get message:

It doesn't seem to find any Individuals *.htm file? Is the first "/" the problem in path or what might cause this?
Attach also a new copy of '{FI}Kerronnallinen Raportti/Dictionary.xml' in case you want to update yours because of above mentioned small text change and that I made a small change in '<FmtHtmlHomeSkin' -text, as well.

All translations of the 'Narrative Report' share common scripts and runtime configuration files via the 'Narrative Common' folder which gets linked to the language skin folder when first run.
All the other skins are independent of each other, with their own Dictionary.xml, Config.xml files, although I think for some the Reports Dictionary.xml is based on the Narrative Report version. Therefore if you wish to translate the other reports to Finnish then yes you should copy the {EN} version to a {FI} folder and translate as required. N.B. Typically only "T" and "Desc" XML attribute values should be translated and for multiple choice attributes of the form "Ox=":name:value" then only 'value' part should be translated not 'name'. DO NOT translate 'Type' or 'Default' attribute values. Regarding the issue with the Individuals index, I had the same problem with my test report, but then after some changes to ConfigMsgLocal.xml is seems to be working correctly. I do not know what caused this problem. I have attached an updated skin for you to test.

I Unzipped the latest attached "Kerronnallinen Raportti.zip", incl. changes you have made.
Then tested by running a new Narrative Report.
Unfortunately still the Individuals index does not show any Individuals data?
I went through Dictionary.xml and checked that:
1. Only "T","Desc" and "Alt=" XML attribute values are translated.
2. I did not find any multiple choice attributes of the form "Ox=" so I've not translated the "name:" part.
3. I did not find any 'Type' attribute values ie. Type='something'. Only eg. <BloodType>, <CeremonyType>, <MarriageType>, etc. and those I've translated.
4. I found few lines with attribute values Value='something' but haven't translated them.
I found a line:
"<SK T="Logiciel d'arbre généalogique" Url="/fr/" Alt="Logiciel pour créer votre arbre généalogique" />
</SearchKeywords>"
which I didn't know what it means and haven't translated it.
What the difference in english with following two lines:
<TimelineOccupancy T="occupancy" C1="#FFA500" C2="orange" V="2.0.1.7RC8+"/>
<TimelineOccupation T="occupation" C1="#8B008B" C2="darkmagenta" />
When translated into finnish both occupancy and occupation can have the same meaning "asuminen" or "hallussapito".
I don't understand from the context what is exactly meant by this two lines and I'm not able to translate?
I'll enclose again Dictionary.xml because I made few small changes.

Did you clear your browser cache before accessing the revised report? As I said the Report skin now works correctly for me.

Here Default and Type are attributes and their values should not change. O1, O2, O3 etc are of type "Ox=" and only the text after the : can be changed as in the above. You originally translated Default_2, Default_3 as well. In the above I notice that I have wrongly changed Type from your translation back to "scheme" when of course it should be "theme". I will correct this.
Your examples <BloodType>, <CeremonyType>, <MarriageType> are tags not attributes.
Yes English can be confusing. Occupation can have two meanings
1. The act of occupying a place. e.g. an army occupying a foreign land is an army of occupation.
or
2 Type of employment, job, profession etc
With Genopro 'occupation' means the second above, ie. employment, job etc.
I used occupancy, meaning someone's use of a room or building for the purposes of living or working:, instead of the GenoPro term 'Contact' as Contact is generally used for address information e.g residency tenancy etc
The search key in French
<SK T="Logiciel d'arbre généalogique" Url="/fr/" Alt="Logiciel pour créer votre arbre généalogique" />
translates in English to
<SK T="family tree software" Url="/fr/" Alt=""Software to create your family tree" />
but I don't think the <SK> tags are used any more. |

Yes, I did clear the cache before testing the new file you sent. I also re-started my PC before testing another time.
Thanks for explaining words occupancy and occupation, I believe now I'm able to find translations into finnish.
I noticed that there isn't the "ConfigMsgLocal.xml" -file in {EN} Narrative Report -folder but in {FI} Kerronnallinen Raportti -folder it is? Should I delete the file "{FI} Kerronnallinen Raportti/ConfigMsgLocal.xml" -file?

Perhaps this has nothing to do with my problems but am reporting anyway.
I Created a report with:
1."{FI} Kerronnallinen Raportti" -skin
2."Narrative_2014.08.14" -skin
Please find attached two log:
1.Log when Narrative Report is created with {FI} Kerronnallinen Raportti -skin
2.Log when Narrative Report is created with Narrative_2014.08.14 -skin
Seems to be that "{FI} Kerronnallinen Raportti" -skin has not created any Individual.htm's as the older version 2014.08.14 did.
Perhaps this is not significance but anyway for your attention.

Your Report Log 'Log when Narrative Report is created with {FI} Kerronnallinen Raportti -skin.txt' shows that you are NOT using the revised skin I posted yesterday. You are still using the earlier one!
The Report Log should show: Yhdistetään versio 2016.09.29 ja ConfigMsgBase.xml versio 2016.02.24. Raportin Skin versio 2016.08.11 Raportin kielikoodi 'FI' Sanakirja versio '2016.09.29' i.e. note the date 2016.09.29 not 2016.07.16

Yes, you are right as normally, my mistake.
Now i copied the file you sent already 29.9.2016 to my hard disk and unzipped it to Skins/{FI} Kerronnallinen Raportti.
Then I run it and now name index works as expected.

I'm glad we have managed to sort that one out.  No troubles really, I am happy to help if I can and it is good to have another language version of the Narrative Report which will hopefully attract more users to GenoPro so thanks for your efforts with this translation.
