Issues with character encoding of translations

The only language my 70 years old relative knows is Russian, thus the only option for her to use GenoPro is with RU translation. The issue is when she switches the UI from EN to RU, in multiple places she sees some weird looking encoding issues in the menus and dialogues.

Does anybody have a clue on what could it be and how to fix it?

I think first you need to solve another problem with Russian languagepack:
Probably your relative has a strange version of GenoPro (not 3.1.0.1). There are no untranslated terms in the Russian languagepack in the Family tab (as shown in your post).

Fortunately or unfortunately it is 3.1.0.1 ... So perhaps there some translation related bugs...

Today I uninstalled GenoPro, downloaded it from the GenoPro website and reinstalled it.

Thank you Alex for your efforts and the confirmation.

Could you please check one more thing for me?

Please go to Tools -> Display Alphabets...  and take a screenshot of the first tab called Active Character Set

Here is what I've got:

Thanks to your input I've managed to identify the root cause and find a solution for it!

The issue only affects users that use the Russian version of Genopro on a Windows machine where the main language is NOT Russian.

The fix is to change the Default language for non-Unicode programs (This makes me think that Genopro doesn't support Unicode... I am not an expert though)

The setting is hidden under:
Start -> Control Panel -> Region -> "Administrative" tab -> "Change system locale..." button.

Once you set "Russian" there Genopro shows the active charset as 1251 and all ??? signs disappear.

PS: Switching the Region or Windows primary language or keyboard layouts WILL NOT help.

Have an amazing weekend! Smile
