I also found that I had a dialog without any tags. However to sort this out I used the opposite technique in the Tag editor, because deletion seemed to cause all sorts of problems.

In the dialog identified in the Message Log, where there are no tags in the lower box, create one by clicking the New button.

Problem solved

The Message Log displays a warning (in orange):

Validating data...
Dialog Layout 'Custom Tags' for Individual does not have any tags!

Somehow you have a dialog layout without any custom tag. To fix the problem, go to the Tools menu, select the Tag Editor and click on the Delete button. Click on OK. Save your family tree and you should no longer see this warning message again.

The Message Log appears when there is a warning or an error opening a .gno file. You are welcome to send me a sample .gno file and I will take a look why the Message Log window appears.

I would like to know why the log file box appears everytime that I open the program?  I am using 2.0.

Thanks Irv
