There are several threads in this forum describing the procedure "How to cerate a custom skin". This skin is necessary when you want to create a skin i.e. in a different language.
So you have to click the icon "Generate Report" and then click the button "New Skin". It will copy all files from the hidden "English Narrative Report" into a new folder. You have to rename this folder, so it will not be overwritten later. Within this folder you have to create a new folder as said before (not anywhere on your). The source file as mentioned could be a word file (i.e. biography), an excel fle, a flash file, a pdf file, a djvu file, a html file or may be even others.
If you want to upload your report to the internet, the new folder will be uploaded as well. But since those files do not have their own URL, you just type the path to your file (no http://www.....) just foldername/filename.xxx into the field whithin the source records (Source file or URL.
There are more possibilities, but you have to start with one, the easy one.

If you want your sources to be available all the time, you have to create a folder I assume that means a directory on my local machinewithin your custom skin I'm sorry I have no idea what this is except possibly a place on my local hard drive that stores "skins" related to reporting? this and place your source file what is my "source file" in this context? are you meaning a specific URL such as --- http://www.xyzcompany.com into that folder. You then have to link from the source/citation tab to this file "foldername/filename.xxx", so if I understand you are saying use value in the "Source file / URL" field to link to a local file on my PC that within it are URL's that take me to the web as desired. during the creation of the report this folder will also be copied to your report. Please do not forget to give the folder a proper name. ok you lost me again, when you say creation of the report do you mean "Tools/Generate Report" menu item? and then when you say "folder will also be copied" do you mean the contents of the file within the folder will be copied and presented on the report and then be clickable at that time? Any actual reports exist via the various help areas that show this situation where I might be able to see the end result? Thank YOU --- by the way I am assuming that the ONLY way to have a clickable (anchor in this product's terms) on a diagram is via an individual? To actually click the URL placed on the "source" propterties page requires that you drill down to that specific edit screen before being able to actually access the web site it links to - is that correct?

You can add a clickable reference in the Source page. Open the properties for an individual and select the Source tab. Create a name in the first field to identify it and then click the Edit button towards the bottom right of the menu. This opens the Source/Citation Properties menu and here you can add a Source File or URL. You can browse to a file on you PC and link to that. When you return to this menu the button Open URL will load that file into the associated program, so that an .xls file will load into Excel. Alternatively you can paste an internet reference such as a link to a census page on Ancestry. This means that anyone accessing this link can see the original document - providing they can log-in. problem with reports on the web; obviously links to a file on your own PC will not work but this is useful for your own records

Alternative option is to add the external link as a Source where again you can browse to a file and select it and it will open in its parent program. To access this you would have to go into Properties from the genogram - a less direct link THis is the first message I've attempted lving so bear with me if things I not clear. I have been seeking to learn all the places in the program where an external link URL can be placed that will allow the viewer to click. From all my reading it appears the ONLY anchor allowed is the individual on the Genogram. But your comment here suggests that clickable links can also reside somewhere in a SOURCE record. If that is so I can't figure it out, would appreciate knowing where else a CLICKABLE hyperlink can be entered into thsi system (i.e. like in a comments field even) Thanks for the help.

I've now been sucessful in splitting off groups of individuals into separate trees, from my single, over complcated, tree. Thing are now much more under control.However, I haven't figured out how to delete the internal hyperlinks that I had set up. Other than, that is, by deleting the individual they were set up on, and then, creating the individual afresh. I'd be most grateful if someone can tell me, if it is possible to delete hyperlinks in a more straightforward manner. John

If you highlight the individuals you want to move to a new GenoMap (either by holding down your left mouse button and encircling the relevant individuals; or by using one of the select options - ancestors, spouse, siblings, children, etc) and then right-click on one of the selected objects, one of the options is 'Move to GenoMap'. The pop-out menu will give you the option of any existing GenoMap or a New GenoMap.

Many thanks for that information.As I do not envisage there will be a need to have more than about 10 "sub-trees" I would be content if they were not hyper-linked to an individual in my main tree. Then, I would, then, access the "sub-trees" via their tabs (at the bottom of the screen). This would leave the hyper-link facility available for me to jump to my word documents etc. My question now is, how can I remove the hyper-links I have alredy created?
