Conversion of .gno files into XML

Author Is it possible to convert these to .xml files for further use? If so how? If not any other suggestions?

Having suffered a complete "meltdown" whilst performing a back up, I lost my hard disk and back up copies.

An expensive hard disk recovery has produced several files in *.gno form only.

Is it possible to convert these to .xml files for further use?  If so how? If not any other suggestions?

Hi,
The .gno files are native Genopro files, so if you have re-installed Genopro you should be able to open these files.

To convert to XML, first open a .gno file with Genopro, and then use the "File" --> "Export" --> "Export to XML format" option.

You can also open the .gno file using a Zip archiver such as WinRAR or WinZip.  Inside the archive you will see a file named data.xml.  If you extract (decompress) this file, you will get the XML version of your family tree.

If you do not have a Zip archiver and use Windows XP or Vista, just change the file extension from .gno to .zip.  When expanding the .zip file, you will see the file data.xml.
