I did find this out when using the original version, but now I use the Beta version and can't stop it backing up my .gno file each time and creating a new version.

Hi v.l.o.

eg. When i made a new .gno tree and saved it to my docs/blah blah blah and re-opened it at a later date, naturally saved it again, it made a backup.gno copy/version. The same has happened with the Beta version i have saved. I did manage to stop it when I had the .gno original version, but now that I am using the Beta version i can't remember (or find) how to do it.

When you save a file from Beta, three files are created. The .gno file can not now be opened in v.1, so a backup v1x.gno is also created for backward compatibility. The third xml file is an open standard that can be used by other programs and also provides a different form of backup.

If you use the normal File Save (or use Ctrl-S) then these files are replaced, so you do not get extra files. If you want a backup version then you have to use the Menu Save As

Does that answer your problem?
