| 1. Generate the report normally on FamilyTrees.GenoPro.com. 2. Go in your Control Panel. 3. Modify the report you want password protected with the edit button . 4. Each report can be either: - Public (visible in your public profile, FamilyTrees.GenoPro.com home page, and the directory)
- Hidden (not listed anywhere but accessible for people who know your URLl)
- Password protected (a password will be required each visit to the report)
Select the protection mode, type your password press the edit button (again) to save your setting.
This new feature is only available to GenoPro customers.

| Hi Morin, This is just what I was looking for, but my Control Panel does not allow me to edit such information. It looks like I'm not registered as being a paying member and therefore haven't got this function - is that rightfully assumed? Although I have already paid for a private 1 user license and the number corresponds with the license I can click buy to at the login page. Is there anything else I have to enable or setup before this function will work ? Rgds Lars Olsen

| You haven't generated a report to FamilyTrees.GenoPro.com. yet. Follow the steps exactly in the same sequence as in JcMorin's post above and it will work ok. Bob.

Visit http://support.genopro.com/ControlPanel.aspx and click on the Edit button. Then select the option Password Protected and enter your password.

| Sorry, but this doesn't work. I get the 'BUY' button against the last two options (and incidentally I have the BUY button showing against my registration key in the registration part of the control panel (the registration key is not a TMP one! The same key works fine in GenoPro. Any further suggestions? regards.

I have no idea why the password-protected report does not work for you, because it worked for me a few days. We will get this resolved in less than 24 hours. Sorry about this.

| Dear Alan, I spent some time reviewing the issue. Our new control panel allows you to set a password for your report. This new collaboration interface is still under construction, however you are welcome to use it to set your password. The new collaboration interface at http://collaboration.genopro.com/Account.aspx will eventually replace the current control panel at http://support.genopro.com/ControlPanel.aspx. Click on http://collaboration.genopro.com/Account.aspx. Use the same username/password as the one you used for this forum. Scroll down to the Online Publications section click on the Edit link. You will see the following panel where you can set a password for your publication. If you are having difficulties, please let us know.

| Thanks Jean-Claude, This has achieved some progress. The development control panel worked fine and I was able to set a password. It now shows a padlock sign against it, confirming that it is password protected. However, When I go to Familytrees, and search for a family member, I'm able to find them all, click on the link from one of them, and go into the family tree without having to provide a password. Is the system using a cookie on my machine to identify that I'm the owner of a Family Tree which my machine is trying to access? I also note that when I go into Familytrees and use the Newest Reports or Updated Reports, it appears to be Hidden. Presumably the Password Protected setting also excludes it from the visible directories (although this isn't explicitly stated). Regards Alan

Alan However, When I go to Familytrees, and search for a family member, I'm able to find them all, click on the link from one of them,...This is a known issue. For performance reasons, the "indexation" of http://familytrees.genopro.com occurs once a day (at about 1:00 AM Eastern Time). During the indexation update, new pages are added to the search database, and all removed pages or password protected publications are removed from the search database. I did a manual indexation to make sure your publication has been removed from our index. Alan ... and go into the family tree without having to provide a password. Is the system using a cookie on my machine to identify that I'm the owner of a Family Tree which my machine is trying to access? This is a minor bug, that I have just corrected. The password was set in the database, however the security manager was not aware of the new password, and kept the old one in memory. It should work now - the bug was only with the new control panel. Alan I also note that when I go into Familytrees and use the Newest Reports or Updated Reports, it appears to be Hidden. Presumably the Password Protected setting also excludes it from the visible directories (although this isn't explicitly stated).Yes, password protected or hidden reports are not displayed in the public directory. We made the decision to hide password-protected report because it is almost the equivalent of a broken link, since clicking on a link and having to type a password you don't know is very similar as clicking on a link to an inexistant page. Our philosophy is: reports in the public directory (http://familytrees.genopro.com/Directory.aspx) should be accessible by everyone, otherwise they should not be listed there.
