After installing GenoPro Beta 17e, and finally getting the Report Generator to work, I noticed several things.

  1. When a person marries (gets engaged, divorces, etc.), but one spouse is missing, it says, He/She has a half-brother/sister. Even when both children are of the same relationship, Joe marries an unknown person, and has two children. This is reported the same as above.

  2. Pregnancy length is not reported.

  3. Doctor's name is not reported (Birth).

  4. Possibly more children, to be completed, and no more children are not reported.

  5. Picking spouse order does not work, it changes back to dates.

  6. When you don't know the burial place, it reads, His/Her other in 1935. But the burial place is what screws my report up in the first place. This also happens for burial.

  7. Relation Other or Unknown says the individuals were married, when they might not have been.

  8. Social Entity comments/data tips are not included in report, but the Label Text is.

  9. Social Relationships are included, but Emotional Relationships are not.

This is an interesting bug.  GenoPro calculates the siblings according to the number of common parents.  For instance, full siblings have two common parents, and half siblings have one common parent.  I will need to fix this for the case of a family has only one parent.

In the meantime, add an empty parent to the family, so the family has two parents.  In real life, there must be two parents, a male and a female, to produce children... at least that's what I remember from my biology class.

Pregnancy length is not reported.

Not all fields are shown in the report.  The idea behind the pregnancy length was to record premature babies.  Perhaps we will move this field into the Medical tab, with the blood type, eye color and other doctor-related fields.

Possibly more children, to be completed, and no more children are not reported.

Perhaps Ron could add something to the report to indicate if there are possible more children.

Picking spouse order does not work, it changes back to dates.

That should work.  Using the button Change Mate Order should overwrite any marriage dates.   If this is not the case, can you send me a sample file with a step-by-step scenario to reproduce the problem.

I am working on solutions in the report for items 2,3,4,6,8 and 9. These should hopefully be ready in 4 or 5 days.

7. Relation Other or Unknown says the individuals were married, when they might not have been

In my tests this case is reported as ' The nature of their relationship, e.g. married, divorced etc., is not known.'

Comment on point 2: Pregnancy length.

I remember the 1st time I opened an Ind Male Prop panel, I was surprised and even shocked to see this field.

I'm not a Medical specialist, but perhaps "Gestation period" may be more appropriate and suitable.

Thanks

Great suggestion.  I am thinking of removing / moving this field into another dialog.

I fail to see the problem with 'pregnancy length', is it an issue with translation? To my mind the phrase 'gestation period' is normally used when referring to the 'pregnancy' of animals, rather than women. It is an optional field which users may choose to complete or not. Ok if you want to be pedantic, it should perhaps be 'mother's pregnancy length' but to me 'pregnancy length' is just fine.

Another concern I found using Beta 17i, when a parent is unknown, (and you know they were married) it reads, "were married (further details are not known). They had a son named Nimrod."

If I do not know a person's name on my tree I label them as <Unknown>. The report will then read "<Unknown> and <Unknown> were married...". Of course you can replace <Unknown> with any other designation you wish.

That may be fine for you, but I find having an unknown person, that I have no name, education, occupation, baptism, etc., or even the upcoming occupancy, as being a waste of an individual, I think that it should read as Howard53 stated, without having to manually puting in the "Unknown" as the individual's name.

I personally prefer to put "No Name" for unknown people as it looks better than having no spouse at all and avoids problems with the report.
