Having got VbScript.dll into the system32 directory I then found that it now needed Windows Script Server. I downloaded this, although it turned out not to be the latest v5.7 but 5.6. Not knowing my way round Linux I copied this download into the .wine directory and renamed it as Script.exe (the original name is far too long). Then in a terminal session entered 'wine script.exe' and the next stage of Reporting runs - until it hits a different error. I suspect this is one for Ron to comment on
'Error at line 66, position 3 (Code/Util.vbs) Object doesn't support this property or method 'oNode getAttribute' Microsoft VBScript runtime error 800A01B6
Googling this suggests that there is something missing in the code but I may have got the wrong idea here. I had installed the latest Report Skin into 2.0.1.6

appleshaw (2/8/2010) When you get it running you will need extra Windows files if you want to produce reports
I would be curious to know if the someone ever been able to produce report using GenoPro on WINE... from the best of my knowledge it's the only features not working.

I followed the instructions from http://www.genopro.com/download/InstallGenoProWine.exe and GenoPro works on an Asus Eee. Linux has a few additional things to sort out, including setting permissions, usually using Chmod, or something similar. When I look at permissions they are set to Read for all 3 groups, (Owner, group, Others) and Write for Owner. This appears as -rw-r--r-- when I put the cursor over the icon. This data is also on the General tab after a right click on the icon. This also shows Owner: user & Owner group: user. When you get it running you will need extra Windows files if you want to produce reports

Trying to run Genopro, which I have used for two years on the old Windows machine, on Linux under WINE. Clicking the genopro.exe icon has no effect. I am using version 2.0.1.6.

Minor problem with GenoPro under Wine on an Asus 900. This has a non-standard screen of 1024*600. I first found a problem with the normal tabbed menu for an individual. In some way this had been changed to show two lines of tabs, which meant that the OK button was hidden by the status bar. As it is possible to hide this the OK button became visible. I wondered if the difference was due to too many tabs and there was a redundant Custom tab.
Opening the Tag Editor revealed a more serious problem in that the OK button was off the screen under all conditions. I have tried winecfg which can emulate a 800*600 screen but this does not help. I have checked that, of course, on a PC 800*600 does not have the problem.
Obviously GenoPro can not know about all hardware. However is it possible to have a key sequence that triggers the OK button?

Latest version of GenoPro runs fine. Only generating narrative reports won't run because of vbs...

I have never used Linux before but have just got an Asus PC 900 to take around when visiting Record Offices etc.
The instructions to get GenoPro working have been successful; the only problem is that I do not understand the file system enough yet to be sure of finding things. This has been the main hold-up together with finding instructions on downloading Wine. However I now have a very portable version of my data on GenoPro

GenoPro compatible with Wine (Linux and Mac)
The newly released 2.0.0.5 version of GenoPro has been modified to be functional under Wine (http://www.winehq.org/) and it has been tested with the Linux Operating System. Although not all functionalities of GenoPro are working to their full capacity, you can view and edit your family trees on GenoPro.
Wine claims to be compatible with Mac (Intel based), we would appreciate if some Mac user can test it out and give us feeback about it.
All your comments or questions regarting Linux and Mac compatibility should be posted in our support forum.
