In the name index where the date of birth is known, this is added to a name as (b. 1770).

On the older records I am collating, most of them only have baptism records.
Is it possible to add the baptism date, where birth is not known, as (c. 1770)?

I will look into this, but what do you mean by 'c.'? It is possibly ambiguous, meaning either 'Circa' or 'Christening'. Perhaps two characters should be used depending on the 'Religous ceremony setting' i.e. ba. (baptism) ch. christening, br. Brith-Milar, co. (confirmation). These would need to be Dictionary entries to allow translation to other languages.

I had suggested c. as circa but had forgotten that there will be other examples to include, so yes two letters will be preferable. Ba is fine by me, but others may prefer an alternative.

Then comes the question of sort order: it is presumably possible to sort these records but should they be in sequence with the birth data, or added afterwards. I would have thought that would be less confusing.
