To Ron:

I noticed that some of my places are shown OK following "Display Google Map of this Location" links but do not appear on the home screen "Overview of Geocoded Places".

All my missing places are basically the ones with a data level (shown on the View Places Layout) of 1, 2 or 3. They are town (Madrid) and countries (Taiwan, Italy, Qatar).

Is it normal? Thank you Ron

The 'overview of geocoded places' only shows 'geocoded' places, i.e. those with both latitude and longitude values set. The places must also have at least one reference.

Only geocoded places are shown because otherwise an asynchronous Google Map lookup is required. This would be difficult to manage and slow if many such lookups were required.

OK I understand.

It may then be possible for Genopro to implement, at rep gene time, an automatic routine to write the Lat and Long in the Places table fields based on data returned by Google Map (if loc found) for all places not having any Lat and Long filled in?

It will not be 100% correct because Google Map is sometimes mistaken about the location but still!

Worth to think about. Thank you.

We have plans to write a built-in function to automatically fill in the longitude and latitude of places.  With one click on a button, GenoPro would contact our server to get all of them.  The server would be smart, using proximity of existing places and your IP address to pick the closest city when ambiguity arises.
