| Would it be possible to have a Legitimised Child option as a pedigree link between parents and children, for children who are born out of wedlock but whose parents later marry?

I would have thought that the date of birth and the later date of marriage would indicate that the child was "legitimised" by this marriage ?

| I see the problem. The tree for me is more about biological parents but you could indicate the situation in the comments as this is a rather rare occurrence. I have cousins who never married but had children who have their mother's "maiden" name. One of these daughters in her turn did the same as her mother and had a child out of wedlock. In these cases the fathers are not mentioned. In your case you could use one of the options below which can be found in the "relation type" of the marriage bar.
Cohabitation and separation
Committed relationship and separation
Casual relationship and separation
Temporary relation / One night stand
Love Affair and separation
Other or Unknown

| Your suggestion are not applicable in my example....the unmarried couple were in fact the biological parents, they relation was a commited long term relationship...but this is valid just for the couple. The link child - parent could shows them as legimitized, due is a legal relationship like the adoption.

I think one of your problems is that you are using a program to describe a very specific set of circumstances. GenoPro is very flexible of course but can not build in all potential permutations.
So the question then becomes:_ what do you want to show - and where? Taking the last part first there is the display in GenoPro on a PC, which is different from the web report produced by the Report Generator.
On the display you can choose an appropriate family line - I am not sure of the differences between 'Cohabitation1 and 'Legal Cohabitation' and the children will then have a link Biological child.
There are then various options to describe the situation. The colour of the link can be changed to draw attention to it and a note can be added in the comments field. However this note will not be revealed when the cursor is over the link but only when opened for editing. So an additional text box could be added across all of the links giving for instance the date of the legal adoption.
I am not sure how all of this would appear when passed through the Report Generator. For this a comment could be added in one of the comment fields such as birth, giving the date of legal change.
I suspect the kind of particular case you need to describe would vary according to the country in which you live. I have no knowledge of legal status but would think that it some countries children born to a long term relationship would be the legal children of the parents and a legal adoption would not be necessary. All of which complicates things for the programmer

By the way, the list of family relations will be revised this July and we will try to make it shorter, mostly for family therapists. We will maintain backward compatibility, and perhaps an option to have the original list or a simplified list of family relationships.

There is no such thing as Illegal Cohabitation!!!In fact, cohabitation is illegal under Islamic Law, and at one time was illegal in all American States, and still is in 7, although it is not enforced - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cohabitation
