Hi there,

Just discovered your site. Program looks good. At present I am using an Australian program (very patriotic) called Genius for Windows (now out of production due to retirement of author). I have published to the web Different families in their own groups.  In my main family (Bell) there are about 2000 people. The program generated web pages for each person as well as a list of names.

EDIT

Also at the moment with my current program, if I want to split the database - which contains over 4000 names - into seperate families, I have to export to Brothers' Keeper, split the database into seperate families then export back to make individual family web pages.

I assume GenoPro does what  I have described above particularly data base splitting. Before buying the program i would like this confirmed.

Thanks

Ian Bell

Take a look at the GenoMaps, its a good way to have multiple family trees linked together in separate view.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will try it in the trial version.

One other query I have is regarding exporting/importing from my current software. Will GenoPro accept blank records that have a record number allocated to them. A hypothetical database has 2000 records, with Record numbers 1-1123 allocated names, 1124-1523 no info (apart from the number), 1524-1753 allocated names, 1754-1827 no info (apart from the number), 1828-2000 allocated names. I assume GEDCOM format would be used.  Sorry if I appear to be a bit wary of this program but I am trying to make sure that I will be no worse off by migrating all the records from my current software to GenoPro.

I have one more query, but I will wait until I receive a reply to this query.

Thanks

Ian Bell

The purpose of a trial version is to try it.
With this said I suggest you create a Gedcom file from your present system and import into GenoPro. Start with a small selection of all the data you have.
GenoPro itself has no influence on the structure of the Gedcom file, created by another software package. All data will be imported. If some fields do not exist in the present version, custom tags will be created.
GenoPro will created an ID for each person, family and other objects.

Take a look at the GenoMaps, its a good way to have multiple family trees linked together in separate view.

Question, please:

When a GenoMap (GenoMap1) is split into multiple family trees (say GenoMap2, GenoMap3 ... etc), the connection between GenoMap1 and GenoMap2, and,  GenoMap1 and GenoMap3, is established with the new Hyper Link to each other. After this is done, if I generate  a HTML report generator on GenoMap1, does it include all information from GenoMap2, GenoMap3 hyperlinks also ???

You have the option of generating a report limited to a particular genomap, or on the whole document.
Have a look in http://familytrees.genopro.com/ to see reports that have been created

Remember that to see the svg graphics (genomap) you must either use Firefox as a browser or download the svg plug-in from the Adobe site for Internet Explorer
