The report show a doubling up of the alternative name entered into the individual field:
This in turn shows up in the report as follows:
Also note the close bracket only. On previous version (2.0.0) it was all o/k (single instance and no brackets). Help would be appreciated. Frank1

The problem is with the parenthesis () or brackets. When the text direction changes from left-to-right to right-to-left, the parenthesis is caught in between. There is no magic answer to this, when you have Latin-based text and Hebrew text, you will always get this result in your browser.

The format of the fullName and alternative in the report is controlled by a Dictionary phrase, <!-- 0=Full Name, 1=Alternative name --> <PhNameAlternative T="{0}[ ({1})]" />
|
Obviously this can be changed in a custom skin to remove the brackets as an interim solution. There have been issues in the past with mixed direction text that have been resolved. I will look to see if this can also be fixed.

Ron (3/31/2008) I will look to see if this can also be fixed.Good luck. I don't think this problem can be fixed because the text direction is determined by Windows. When Windows reaches a parenthesis, it treats is as punctuation and decides whatever the punctuation belongs to the latin-text or the Hebrew text. Depending on the global text direction, the parenthesis is attached to the latin text or Hebrew text which creates a different display. Try changing the global text direction to "Right-to-Left" and you will see the parenthesis displayed differently. There is no fix for this when a report contains both Left-to-Right (latin) text and Right-to-Left (Hebrew or Arabic) text.

Ron,That fixed the bracket problem. As I mentioned before, in previous releases there was no doubling up of the alternative name. So something is different in the report generator that causes this. Using V2.0.14 GenoPro with V2.0.0 or V2.0.4 report generator produces NO doubling. Using V2.0.14 or later report generator causes doubling of the alternative name. By the way, some time ago I complained about the Hebrew vertical alignment in the SVG View. V2.0.4 shows this. V2.0.14 has fixed the vertical alignment of the Hebrew text. Is there a way to change the font used in the SVG View? Thanks Frank1

The doubling of the Alternative Name is not universal. See below:
Hope this helps find out what may be wrong. Frank1

I had trouble reproducing this error but now I see the problem. The Report script assumes, wrongly, that the Full Name does not include the alternative name, and uses the PhNameAlternative phrase to add it. However it appears that sometimes you have chosen in your .gno file a Full Name format that includes the alternative Hebrew name, hence the doubling, and also causes an issue with brackets for some reason. If you use a Full Name format that excludes the Hebrew alternative all will be OK.However I do need to fix this problem. I will change the code to check if the Full name already includes the alternative. Also it is probably better that the alternative name phrase is a configuration option and not fixed in the dictionary. I prefer that users do not need to change the Dictionary and hence have a custom skin to achieve the report they require.

You are right Ron.If I remove the Alternate Name from the full name it is shown correctly:
Please note though, the Children do not show the Alternate Names now. Also, this behavior is the same as the older version V2.0.0.4 as shown in a previous post #21206. Unfortunately, this is not yet a fix as you said. I can't use it because I have about 8 family trees I administer with about 100 names in each. That would mean changing about 800 names. It will be great when you find a solution. Thanks Frank1
