Is it possible to expand the tree background to give spaces between existing entries rather than marking areas and moving them out please?

GenoPro has a default snap-to-grid and grid spacing which cannot at present be changed. You will find a discussion at Customization of grid size. For now you will have to continue with your current method.

Can you tell me if the new version of Genopro has a facility to expand the canvas? For such an excellent FH application it seems a major shortcoming or does everyone's tree not grow beyond their wildest dreams?

What do you mean by Expand Canvas and FH? Do you mean having more drawing options? If so, which ones would you like? Thanks.

My tree is getting very congested but I can see no way to increase the space between names, as new branches crop up, without dragging them outwards. Am I being thick or missing something? If I was aware of this problem initially I would have allowed even more space. FH=Family History. GenoPro seems to have covered everything except this. Thanks

If your problem is that there are several generations with many children in each then a normal tree can get very extended. There are two options to help in GenoPro, using hyper links to spread the tree out. As Jean-Claude says you can use separate GenoMaps, as illustrated in the help section (from the hyperlink in his posting) An alternative is to keep everything on one display but to spread the families of the first set of children. To do this select one of the second generation and press key 'H'. This will produce a copy of that individual that can be dragged horizontally away from the siblings and the family added. If you have all of that data on the display then you need to break the original link here and move the family under the hyperlink and use the 'link as parent' to restore things. Hope that is clear; if not ask for explanations

GenoPro has several methods to help create more space to accomodate your expanding tree. - You can use hyperlinks, as previously mentioned, to break your tree into smaller ones linked together either on the same genomap or spread over several genomaps.
- To simply 'Expand the canvas', select all individuals in the area you want to expand, or all individuals (Ctrl + A), then right click on the selection and choose 'Inflate Tree'. This will increase the space between individuals and can be repeated as often as you like.
- Alternatively add your extra members, crowding them together and then use Tools/AutoArrange GenoMap or Tools/AutoArrange Selections to correct the overcrowding.
