One of the useful tricks when moving families is not well documented or difficult to realise its effect

Move one person to a new Genomap and then press V on the keyboard. This will move the additional family and join it on. I think it only moves one generation but you can select other members of the family and bring their family to join them.

This feature is on the 'Move to GenoMap' menu as the last item on the list, so if you prefer to use the mouse you can then move the first person and repeat the Right click - move process. I find V much easier
