Hi everyone,

I am working on my genogram as an assignment in a family therapy class. Instructions say I need to include "notes on the genogram drawing about people, events, etc. next to the relevant person or generation." How do I do this?

Thanks!

The simplest way is to add text boxes where you need the comment. Easiest way to start this is to press keyboard 'L' and a default box will appear on screen. Right click the box to change its properties, such as background colour. Enter the text and adjust the box size to fit. Drag the box to where you want it.

The only problem with this is that the box is not attached to the genogram, so if you adjust that you also have to move the box. You can avoid this by using Custom Tags, but probably not worth the extra effort for one off.

I have had GenoPro since its inception and have never seen a program that diagrams family relationships better.

I do really love the (note) label feature on the program, but one wish list item would be to allow labels to be anchored to an individual or component of a diagram (such as a marriage line). I have 5,162 individuals in my tree and using labels helps me remember where I am in some of the research process- at a glance - without having to dig down into each of the family members to see notes about where I left off in reasearch.
If it's possible, I would like to see the labels anchor to existing components of the diagram so that as I expand my diagram to add families, etc., the labels will stay anchored and move too.

I figured out to add text label but as I type nothing is going in the box. What do you mean it's not part of the genogram? How do I get it to stay in that spot so that it is there when printed out?

Thanks Belinda

Not sure what your problem is. If you open a Text box by using the L on the keyboard the box appears on screen with the default text selected. If you start typing the letters should also appear on screen. If this does not happen, then give more details, particularly the version of Windows being used.
