I am new to GenoPro.I want to have a Layout that has the Individuals line up with their Addresses. Under Table Layout, when I selext "Individuals" it will show all the Individuals but no Addresses. When I select "Places and Locations" it will list all the Addresses but non of the Individuals that live there? Also, When I put in a person's Address the program forces the entry of a "Place Name". Is there a way to eliminate this forced entry? I really don't have unique names for every place people live. I am using GenoPro 2.0.1.6 thanks, sam

What you would like is having column named Address to display the most recent contact name in the Table Layout? One of the problem is GenoPro does not associate a Place with an individual; an individual may have lived at many places, and places are used everywhere, such as the place a picture was taken, the physical location of a source / citation, place of birth, place of death, place of marriage, etc.GenoPro introduced the contept of Contact and Occupancy which is a combination of a Place (address) with extra information, such as a telephone number, email, as well as a date. The same physical place has different contact information, because people move. For instance, the same house has a different phone number when sold to a new owner. Even the name of a street may change over time.

Thanks,Not sure what all that means, but I'll accept that it can't be done. So I went in and used the Custom Tags to add the Current Adress under the "Individuals" Layout. This works fine for my needs. Another Question: How do I now take the Custom Tags Layout I set up and use it in other GenoPro Documents? We use GenoPro for Teens that have grown up in the Foster Care system and now want to find Family Members that they have lost contact with over the years. We try to build as big of a Family Tree as we can. It is important we have a Current Address for the Living Relatives. Is there a way I can Cut and Paste the Individuals Layout with the Custom Tags I set up in one program and put it into each Teen's Genopro Document? Each Teen has their own on seperate computers? Do I need to go into each Teen's Document and set up the Custom Tags for their GenoPro seperately? Any help would be appreciated. thanks, sam

Shustis (6/24/2010) Not sure what all that means, but I'll accept that it can't be done. Not really. You can go to the Contacts tab and add the address.
In the Table Layout, you can view the list of Contacts. The last contact is the most recent which could be used to display the address. I added a new column named Address in the Table Layout. This new column will be available in the next update.
So I went in and used the Custom Tags to add the Current Adress under the "Individuals" Layout. That would work too. Another Question: How do I now take the Custom Tags Layout I set up and use it in other GenoPro Documents? At the moment, GenoPro does not have a template. What you can do is create an empty GenoPro document and save it as your "template". You may read-only protect the file, so you do not accidentally overwrite it. When you create a new genogram / family tree, you simply open the .gno template and save it to another name. The Custom Tags Layout will be automatically copied/saved to your new document. Is there a way I can Cut and Paste the Individuals Layout with the Custom Tags I set up in one program and put it into each Teen's Genopro Document? Each Teen has their own on seperate computers? It sould work. The Custom Tags are a bit of a trouble. By the way, I am working on merging custom tags in the Collaboration Module of GenoPro.
