We are a
genetic
clinic currently using Cyrillic 2.1 but have to phase out as Cyrillic does not run on 64 bit PC's
GenoPro looks promising as a replacement but seems not yet customised for the data we like to use in our clinic.
Many disorders (sicknesses) are passed through a
family
because of an abnormal variation in a gene which is inherited from parent to child.
For example a mutation in the BRCA1 gene (1135insA for example) leads to
members
in that family who have been tested and demonstrated to have that mutation have an increase risk for breast and ovarian
cancer
.
To be able to visualise the path of diagnoses with in a family is particularly useful. We can then make assumptions where the mutation has derived.
To be able to simply see which
family member
has been tested for the presence of a mutation and whether the test proved that the person had that mutation (designated by a '+') or did NOT have that mutation designated by a '-' for example would be useful. Actually essential for our needs.
Our wish list is:
- for each patient
* display a '+' or '-' indicating mutation status determined by testing. A '.' can be used for carriers who are not yet tested.
* free text for the actual mutation tested (BRCA1 1135insA for example)
* several lines for diagnosis
information
. 5 lines for example (Breast 47, Ovarian 49, Breast 51 for example to decribe a persons 3 cancers and age when cancer diagnosed
* Ideally diagnoses should be
color
coded; red for breast, blue for ovarian, black for colon, orange for brain, .... Thus we can see the most common sicknesses in a family easily.
* Blood sample numbers indifying blood that we have on file for DNA testing. Several positions as each patient may have more than one sample.
* Possibility to click on a patien to see their
address
* The diagonal dead line should perhaps be thicker..?
I know I cannot expect that GENOPro would be 100% Cyrillic 2.1 compatible but it would be a gosend if it were and I am sure many customers would be queueing up as 64bit machines will soon be proliferating health insitutions.
I can supply full
GEDCOM files
from our current system
Further , it appears GENOPRO displays only one item at a time for example:
Display id OR display
date birth
OR didplay ISDEAD.
I feel these fields should all be display at the one time.
I attach a sample of how I would dearly love GENOPRO to be customised for our medical needs.
I can provide a full GEDCOM of this family on request.
Ideally Genopro can be modified to read our gedcoms. Alternatively we would customise our data to out a GEDCOM format suitable for Genopro should a different gedcom format be required.
