I have been banging on for years about the problem of recording possible options when the records get unclear. I use the GenoPro display to indicate this, as the above image shows. Here there is a record from the 1851 census that John Boot was born in Nantwich about 1803. The only record from the LDS that is at all possible is for John Alexander Boote baptised at Nantwich in 1799.

If John Boot was born near Nantwich, or moved there as a child, then the link does not stand. The display mapping indicates this.

However the Report Generator can not reflect this, saying

"Samuel and Elizabeth were married.  They had two sons and a daughter, named ;" href="file:///G:/Data/GenoPro%20Beta%20Report/warner/family-SamuelBooteAndElizabeth-fam00038.htm#Boote-JohnAlexander-ind00153.htm">John, ;" href="file:///G:/Data/GenoPro%20Beta%20Report/warner/family-SamuelBooteAndElizabeth-fam00038.htm#Boote-Charles-ind00157.htm">Charles and ;" href="file:///G:/Data/GenoPro%20Beta%20Report/warner/family-SamuelBooteAndElizabeth-fam00038.htm#Boote-Mary-ind00156.htm">Mary."

Any suggestions on how the text can indicate this possibility?

You could add the _Narrative tag:

    * Go to Tools\Tag Editor, and go to the Family tab
    * Click on a new line in the Dialog Layouts section
    * In the "Layout Name" field enter "Report Options"
    * Then making sure this layout is selected, click on the first row of the "Tags for Dialog Layout 'Report Options'" section below
    * Set "Tag Permanent Name" to "_Narrative"
    * Close the Tag Editor

To utilise the _Narrative tag:

    * Select the family line for Samuel Boote and Elizabeth, and choose properties
    * Go to then newly created Report Options tab, and enter something similar to this in the _Narrative field:

<?html?><?subsection "Possible Paternity" "They may have also had another son named <a href='Walton-John-Boy-ind999991.htm' onclick='hidePopUpFrame("");' target='detail'>John-Boy Walton</a><br/><br/>"?>

You'll have to adapt it to the relavent htm link for your person. It looks like this in the report:

http://support.genopro.com/Uploads/Images/7653269d-c5a0-4e46-a367-9c8e.jpg

Equally you could create the _Narrative tag under Individual tab in the Tag Editor, then put a similar entry on for John:

<?html?><?subsection "Possible Parentage" "John may have been a son of <a href='family-JohnWaltonAndOlivia-fam999991.htm' onclick='hidePopUpFrame("");' target='detail'>Samuel Boote and Elizabeth</a><br/><br/>"?>

Harry
Thanks for that, in particular the detailed steps involved. Made it seem so simple and it works!
Will now have to look through other family trees and bring them up to date

All credit to Genome who coded this great feature into the report for us Smile

I've used it here to include a bio of my great uncle:

One other thing I found is that because I used an Emotional Relationship to demonstrate a possible link, this appears in the report. The Fused link is described as 'are fused, i.e.inseparable.'
Obviously needed to edit Dictionary.xml and there are two occurrences of this text, so Find & Replace changed both 'are fused, i.e.inseparable.' to 'were probably the same person.'
Will have to edit the link that I use to show siblings baptised on the same day; a useful way of indicating that date of birth is approximate

Slight display problems with this. The font for 'Possible Paternity' is slightly smaller and the colour of 'Elizabeth Parsons' is not for a hyperlink. The cursor over her name produces an underline and when you return to this page the colour has changed to the same as Caleb.
The code behind this is:
<div><ul class='xT std'>
  <li class='xT2-c xT-h' onclick='xTclk(event,"2")'><h3 class='xT-i inline'>Possible Paternity</h3>
    <ul class='xT-h'>
     <li>Joshua's parents were probably <a href='Bevan-Caleb-ind1948080119.htm' onclick='hidePopUpFrame();' target='detail'>Caleb Bevan and </a> <a href='Parsons-Elizabeth-ind1948078601.htm' onclick='hidePopUpFrame();' target='detail'>Elizabeth Parsons </a><br/><br/>
     </li>
    </ul>
  </li>
</ul>
</div>

<div class='clearleft'><br /><ul class='xT'>
    <li class='xT2-c xT-h' onclick='xTclk(event,"2")'>
<a name='Relationships'></a><h3 class='xT-i inline'>Connections &amp; Relationships</h3><ul class='xT-h'><li>
<div class='clearleft'>
Joshua had an unspecified social relationship with <a href='Bevan-Caleb-ind1948080655.htm' onclick='hidePopUpFrame("");' target='detail'>Caleb Bevan</a>.<ul class='xT note'>
  <li class='xT-c xT-h' onclick='xTclk(event,"")'>Relationship Notes

I use the Foster link on the display to indicate that this is not a confirmed parentage and need to change the text shown here in Birth Notes.
I also used the R link on the display to show that one of the two Calebs (father & son) were probably the named marriage witness. Probably just need to remove 'unspecified' from 'Joshua had an unspecified social relationship with Caleb Bevan.'

I suspect the link for Elizabeth is fine - the style sheet for the theme defines the colours for links, and as you can see below the default theme (style.css) has a different colour for unvisited links, from those that have been visited:

a:link { color: #330077; text-decoration: none; }
a:visited { color: #660088; text-decoration: none; }
a:active { color: #660088; text-decoration: none; }
a:hover { color: #663388; text-decoration: underline; }

The font size of "Possible Paternity" is also defined by the tag h3, which is configured in each theme's style sheet. In the default theme (style.css) the header definitions are:

h1 { color: #330077; font-size: 1.162em; }
h2 { color: #330077; font-size: 1em; }
h3 { color: #330077; font-size: 0.91em; }

I tested with the BlueDNA and OliveBranch themes, and the font of Possible Paternity came out the same size as Connections & Relationships.

If you don't use the "foster" relationship for any other circumstance (ie you don't have anyone in the tree who was genuinely fostered) then you could edit the dictionary.xml to subvert the reporting to your purpose. These are the entries in dictionary.xml which refer to the foster relationship.

<Foster T="Foster Child"/>
<ChildFoster_M T="foster son" C1="a foster son"/>
<ChildFoster_F T="foster daughter" C1="a foster daughter"/>
<SiblingFoster_M T="foster brother" C1="a foster brother" />
<SiblingFoster_F T="foster sister" C1="a foster sister" />
<Annotationfoster T="Fostering Notes"/>
<PhPL_Foster V="2.0.1.6┬▒" T="{ &#32;}{\U}{!0} was[{?7} {7}] fostered by {1h}[ at {2} old]{3}{4h}[ through {5}][ who also fostered {6h}]. "/>
<PhPL_Foster2 V="2.0.1.6┬▒" T="{ &#32;}{0h} {1} fostered[ by {2h}]."/>
<PhPL_Foster3 V="2.0.1.6┬▒" T="In {0} foster family {1}"/>

For instance, I tried changing the entries as follows:

<Foster T="Probable Child"/>
<ChildFoster_M T="probable son" C1="a probable son"/>
<ChildFoster_F T="probable daughter" C1="a probable daughter"/>
<SiblingFoster_M T="probable brother" C1="a probable brother" />
<SiblingFoster_F T="probable sister" C1="a probable sister" />
<Annotationfoster T="Paternity Notes"/>
<PhPL_Foster V="2.0.1.6┬▒" T="{ &#32;}{\U}{!0} was[{?7} {7}] probably the child of {1h}[ at {2} old]{3}{4h}[ through {5}][ who also fostered {6h}]. "/>
<PhPL_Foster2 V="2.0.1.6┬▒" T="{ &#32;}{0h} {1} probably the child [ of {2h}]."/>
<PhPL_Foster3 V="2.0.1.6┬▒" T="In {0} probable family {1}"/>

In this example, I changed John-Boy's relationship to that of foster child, and entered that his parentage had not been proven in the comments for his pedigree link properties. If you decide to go down this route you don't need to bother with the _Narrative tag and the fused links at all:

The language I've used is pretty clunky - I'm sure you can come up with better, but it allows you to see how it could look on the siblings and parents pages:
