I can see tutorials letting me know how to create the genogram - but where is the blank template for me to begin my own? I've gone to the home page several times and click on "create my family tree" only to end up with tutorials again. I'm very frustrated and stressed, especially since this is supposed to make my life easier.

GenoPro is not an online tool. You have to download the program from here and then install it. If you then need more help you can post again to this forum.

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

I will go through the steps in installing Genopro, and starting your first family tree,
(please excuse me if I start too early in the chain, but may be helpful to other people)

Firstly, you need to download and install Genopro to your PC
It does not matter at this stage if you have the unregistered version, 14 day trial registration, 180 day student registration, or full registration.
(This just effects the number of people in your tree which you can edit / save new data)

I think you have already done this, as your forum profile shows that you are using Genopro V2.5.3.9

Then you need to actually start the installed program "Genopro";
either  from the Windows / Start all programs / Genopro option,
or from the desktop short-cut if you chose to create one when installing Genopro.

When Genopro starts, it can have different apperance depending on what you have tried to do previously with Genopro.
The most typical are:
  1. The main screen area has appearance of Yellowed aged paper, with a faded Brown example Genogram in the background.

In this case, you should click on the FILE option at top left of screen, and then select NEW

This will bring up a new box, containing 3 tabbed Genomaps (Genomap1, Genomap2, Genomap3,
(If this does not completely cover the Yellowed aged paper backgound, you can maximise so that it does)

then see below for next step:

  2. If the main screen area containing 3 tabbed Genomaps (Genomap1, Genomap2, Genomap3,; you are ready to start creating your family tree.
(The "Genomaps" are blank, or just have gridlines at this time, as Genopro does not have a specific "Template" to create a family tree, because each family tree structure will be different)
    • Press the "F" key to invoke a Family Wizard"....  This will allow you to enter details of your first "family" group
    • To add parents to a person, select the person (with mouse click) and then press "P"
    • To add a spouse to a person, select the person (with mouse click) and then press "S"
    • To add a child to a union, select the union link undet the couple (with mouse click) and then press "S" or "D" for son or daughter
    • You can also add a stand-alone Male by pressing "W" and a stand alone female by pressing "E"

    • These options , and many more, are also available from the task bars at the top of the screen.
(there may be some options "Greyed" out when the specific option is not currently valid)

To change information/details on an already entered person, just "double click" on the person, which will bring up the "Properties" of the person

This allows you to change details, and enter more information on the person, and also change the way the information shown around the person is displayed
(to change the types of information displayed on-screen, colour, box around person, etc, use the "Properties / "Display" tab

It is also possible to create several small family groups on a single Genomap,  and later join them together into a larger tree, when the details of the intervening generations become available.

I hope this is sufficient information to get you started; but if you still have queries, do please re-ask.

If the query is related to this specific topic, then is ok to re-post (reply)  to this topic,

If it is a new / unrelated problem, then you should start a new post for the new topic

Best wishes in researching and creating your family tree.
