When I enter the wedding date in the Unions box, how do I get it to print?

What is in the Union tab is not printed.  To display a date, you may use the field Display Text from the General tab, or use a Text Label.

Thanks--I figured it was pretty simple, but I just was looking elsewhere.  Here's my related question--how can I list a few descriptive words next to an individual (i.e., quiet, bossy, low self-esteem, etc.)?

You can create a text box. However this is not attached to the individual, which means it does not move with the person.
If you use a custom tag you can edit it to include anything. Best way to start is to use the Report Writer skin containing the XML Tool kit http://support.genopro.com/Topic16307.aspx?Keywords=xml%20toolkit. You can create a tag containing birth etc but edit it to include your extra data
