Hi,

What I wish to achieve is to generate the following text:

"In 1856 Fidel Dufner was carpenter" (because his occupation at that time was quoted in the birth certificate of one of his children e.g.)
In the "Occupation" window, if I enter "1856" in the "Start Date" field, the Report Generator writes:
"From 1856 was carpenter"
One way around it is to enter "carpenter in 1856" in the "Occupation" field and no date in the "Start Date" field. Is there a more elegant way to keep the date out of the "Occupation" field and achieve the same result?

If you put the same date in start & finish the Report Writer will say "In  1856 he was a carpenter". If you get more information you can use the New button to add data

Thank you. It works well, exactly as I wanted and, as you mentioned, it makes it easy to update the "Occupation" record using the existing fields if you get more information later. The solution seems so obvious, now that you told me!
