When reading about the Bush family, it described the use of triangles, how can I create that for my Genogram?  Also, how do I denote that someone grew up in an orphanage?

I presume you are refering tothis article http://www.genopro.com/articles/death-distance-dynamics-bush-family.aspx

Yes unfortunately the link to the associated .gno is broken.

However I suspect the triangles are drawn as a GenoPro 'Shape' object.  Click the 'New Horizontal Line' icon on the  Standard Tool bar.  Then right click on the selected line and choose 'Closed Figure' . You then have a triangle you can drag into place and change Properties (e.g. fill colour, line type and colour).

Regarding the orphanage, perhaps a Social Entity to represent the orphanage and a 'lives with' Social Relationship connecting to it. Or create a fostering pedigree link with 'Head of XYZ Orphanage' and then create a Household around them.

When you start GenoPro there are suggestions on how to do this. However as soon as you start they are over written. If you start a new display (Ctrl+N) you see them but the first lines are

To add a new family, press the letter F to invoke the Family Wizard
To add parents, select one individual and press the letter P
To add a son or daughter to an existing family, press the letter S or D respectively

You can also start by putting an individual on the display and extending using the technique shown here
