I am wanting to use the traditional anthropological symbol '=' for a union/marriage for a presentation I am doing, instead of what there is available in what I can find of the current symbols, a line '_______'. Is there any way I can add to what is in the library?

I do not think it is possible, in the present version of GenoPro, to alter the shape of the marriage line.
As this is for a presentation I suggest you make the modification yourself.
Right click the display and choose 'New Family'. This will add a horizontal line which can be dragged into position and length adjusted
