I have several entries starting with pedigree link showing biological child. Added new mate with a marriage line. Added new son. Pedigree link shows each as parent. However on the horizontal relationship line, the mother shows as single parent.

All other instances in that family on other pedigree links of biological child plus their mates, each show married couple with x number of children.

I have no idea what I have done wrong because I used the same steps for each biological child and their married mates.

Try dragging the horizontal family line (aka 'marriage' line) up or down. The pedigree links to the child and parents should move with it. If not the one that doesn't move is not connected to it. Maybe you have two overlapping family lines, one with mother & child, the other with husband and wife.

If you have GenoPro 2016 then then 'Problem Spotter' should indicate what's wrong.

No joy with dragging the horizontal line. Does not show any disconnect. The other two marriages per the attached file hover the correct connection. For some reason, this one guy and his mate refuse to play nice. I have gone so far as to delete the sons and the wife and started anew from the biological child having a New Mate, then making the horizontal line a Marriage. That new mate, even before I change to Marriage, the horizontal line reads as Single Parent. Can't figure out how this is labeled single parent as I have not added any children to the horizontal line.

More information. I have copied one particular family group within the whole Carrozza tree and added a new GenoMap to the tabs at the bottom of the page, and pasted that data for that single family group. Understand, that one biological child with his mate in either the master GenoMap or the GenoMap for just that one family group behaves exactly the same.

I am using 2011. I think I originally paid for GenoPro in 2007(?).

Try hovering your cursor over James and his mate in turn. The pop-up should display the number of children (2 in this case). If there is no mention of children, then that person is not connected to the Family Line. Delete the Pedigree Link from that person and reconnect (the 'handles' on the Family Line should turn red).

Sorry to be a pest. I tried what you suggested. I deleted links between James and then issued link as new mate. Handles turned red, to Stephanie. See the attachment. It shows the new family link and Stephanie is a single parent. Note there is no link to either of the two children.

I suspect Ron's suggestion could be the answer. Try clicking the family line and change the relationship to uncommitted - dotted blue. Then move Stephanie horizontally (both directions) to see if there are more than one lines.
To separate them you need to select the line and put the cursor over the central blue box. If the cursor is a cross you drag the line but when it is a vertical line you can separate them

I changed the family line to dotted blue. I moved Stephanie Circle left and right, no additional lines appeared. I then clicked on just the blue dots and put the cursor on the center blue handle with the cross. Moved it left and right. No additional lines. Took the focus from the family line and moused over again until center handle had vertical line with arrowheads. Moved that up and down. Again no additional lines appeared.

Then deleted family line entirely. Selected James' square and set link as mate to Stephanie.  James' square said Pedigree Link: Parent (Name), Stephanie's circle said Pedigree Link: Parent (Name). The grayed out family line reads Stephanie single parent. It reads the same when relationship changes from Married or Uncommitted.

I have tried the same steps above using Stephanie's circle and linking to James' square as mate. Same result.

What I am completely mystified about is how can anyone be a parent if there are no links to children??? Shouldn't the family line simply say James and Stephanie (Marriage/Uncommitted)?

By the way, I appreciate your taking the time to even look at this forum on the first day of a new year, much less responding.Smile (That is me pleased, not laughing!)

Can you make an extract of the problem family? Select, copy and paste into a new file and post it. Check the problem still exists and somebody might find a solution

Here is a portion of the tree that has the problem.

Could you also tell me why two individual pedigree's, linked as mates, can be listed as parents when no children are attached?

I appreciate any guidance you all can provide.

Weird, isn't it. However if you open the Family Tags there are no Mates listed in either case. The only difference in the tags is that on James the box
'Make Label / Exclude From Report' is ticked
Clear this and things return to normal
