Hello,

I created an extensive family tree yesterday and today, and I wanted to copy and pastes some people from another tree into it, so I opened the other tree to copy, and when I wanted to reopen the tree I was working on, it wasn't still open. I forgot that GenoPro worked like this, and I had not saved the file I was working on. It is nameless.

Is it just gone, or is it waiting to be saved somewhere?

If it is gone, I would like to recommend that for the new version coming out later this spring, GenoPro have new files autosaved as drafts just in case they are accidentally closed before saving.

Is it possible for me to retrieve the file I closed if I didn't save it??

Thank you.

GenoPro 2016 does not have an AutoSave - a feature which has been requested by many.  For sure GenoProX will have one, and with the real-time collaboration, you will always have a copy on a server, which may be your personal server or one of our server.

Thank you for your response. I think you are saying that I lost all my work?

I am afraid so.  Have you sent your family tree by email or save it somewhere else?  If you sent by email, then your mail client or your friend/relative might have a copy of your family tree.

Thank you for your response.

No, I didn't send it anywhere. As I said, I was working on it as a new file, had not saved it yet and forgot that I couldn't simply open another genopro file simultaneously for comparison or copying and pasting, so when I opened a new file, the one I was working on closed, and all was lost.

So, the next version should allow multiple files to be open at the same time and should not close a file without a save warning and should allow a draft to autosave while it is being worked on.

I have since re-researched the family I was working on and saved the new file.  The great frustration is the re-recording of all the vitals and historical information with my own observations.

It is possible to have two files open in GenoPro at one time. It is even possible to have two versions of the program running at the same time (I found that out by mistake and it is not necessary to do so)
When you close the program you should get a prompt to save unsaved files.
Did this occur or did you close down Windows and miss the prompt?
