This image shows a family where mother re-marries and the children are adopted. This is probably not correct in modern terms as the data is from the 1871 census where the children are shown as step son. Legal adoption did not exist at that time (I believe) but in practice they were still below age (<21) so there probably was some legal reasoning.
The point is when the link to the second 'family' is added and set as Adopted a box is put around the individual as shown for Charles and Edward. I have changed the second link for Henry to parent (nonsense but it makes the point) and no box is drawn. (It also reduces the number of errors in the Problem Spotter!)
Is there a way to remove the box? I have looked at all of the options that I can think of, but have probably missed the vital bit

As I have never (knowingly) used the Medical Pedigree it did not occur to me to look there. As adoption is not, on first sight, a medical condition, it would have taken me a long time to get there. When you look at it, family factors are very important in counseling etc., so I might have found it, possibly.
Thanks for solving that one.

I knew there was an option somewhere, but couldn't remember where, so I just trawled through the options. Like you I thought I had exhausted the possibilities but eventually came across it.
