If I have moved a person to a new Genomap (i.e. with blue hyperlink) should it turn out that this person will be listed twice on an Individuals table? That is what happens with one individual and I cannot see that I have duplicated her. Other people who have been copied to another genomap are only listed once so I assume this is my error.

Yes it is the expected behaviour to have each instance of hyperlinked individual in the Table Layout.  You can see which is a hyperlink and which is the data source by displaying the 'Internal Hyperlink' column (right click on the column headings, choose 'Column Properties' and click against 'Internal Hyplink?'row).
