In my geno book it shows a symbol for a gay couple. I have one in my family. Does this program offer the opportunity to denote that? Will it allow you to show unions and divorces w/ gay couples? Thanks.

I tried to represent gay couple with children and it's no problem at all.

Just create two males/or females and link one with other with right click "link as a mate /link as a spouse".
Further on - just add children normally add childrenas "new son" or "new daughter" or with "family wizard".

But if we (you) want to be genealogically correct no two males/females can be parents so it might be better, after you create gay couple you should add adopted child or ...

BTW... What Geno book are you reffering to...

The children of a gay couple should be signed as adopted children.

The problem begins where one of them is also the biological father (from sperm donation or artificial futralization - I hope this is hoe it is written Smile )

I agree completely...
and if the child is the shild of one of the partners, it is simply to create two relationshipis, i.e. woman-man divorce,or temporary relationship, and man-man...

...and then, if needed, you can link the child to the new parent and change the status to "Adopted child". There will be two links for the child, one to the biological couple and one to the 2nd couple. Of course, don't use AutoArrange in such a case...

My class is using the book "Genograms Assessment and Intervention" by McGoldrick et al. It shows on page 192 how a lesbian or gay couple would be depicted on the genogram. Was hoping this program offered something like that. Thanks for the information.

I have a copy of the book "Genograms Assessment and Intervention". After a careful review, there will not be a special symbol for gay or lesbian couples. To create a gay or lesbian couple, simply create a regular couple, double click on one of the spouse and change its gender. If you want to draw attention, you can use a color code or a border around the individuals. Similairly, you add a child and then double-click on the vertical link and change it from biological to adopted. Please visit http://www.genopro.com/genogram/ and http://www.genopro.com/genogram_rules/ for details to create such couples.

Is there a way to add information related to human reproductive techniques? For example, surrogate, or sperm donor or ovum donation? I've seen some representations, buy I don't know if it is possible with GenoPro...
