How can I display a child of a single mother, having this child via artificial insemination (unknown father)? Should there be a new relationship (of "none") in the relationship list?
This will become more prevalent as time goes on. Any ideas?

It depends on what you want. I am not sure weather there is a rule about it.
Personaly, I put the unknown father.

I guess I am seeking a more elegant solution than unknown father. I am interested in displaying the fact that this mother was single, by intention and that the lineage should not be searched further back because the donor is anonymous.

You can either write all of this in the comments of the unknown father OR
Delete the father object and leave only the mother with your comments.

I know all of these solutions. I am still looking for something more elegant. Perhaps as a relationship type or some other solution.
How do other programs handle this?

I dont think that a single parent is a relationship of any kind. I look at it more as a status. In Legacy I can add any status that I want and I added a single parent as "Marriage Information" to indicate a single parent.
Suggestion: Try to change the color of the relationship line to an unused color.

well if i were doing that i could think of two ways
one just put a mate and change the link proertys to the most approrate one ( i think there is a unkown or other)
or you could just like the child to the mother directly and leave the unkown mate out of it

I ended up doing exactly what you wrote in the suggestion, as well as describe in a text box what is the relationship.
However, I like the fact that there is a single parent concept - as in Legacy. Perhaps this should be an option in GenoPro?

Do you have a suggestion how to implement it? Can you send me a screen shot about what you would like to be done? Thanks.

A couple of ideas:
1. One of the items in the relationship list will include "Anonymous." Although this may seem contrary to a relationship, but it will also explain one-night-stands leading to children, etc.
2. The relationship with the child will be of a biological child, however, there should be a way of defining artificial insemination - for example, creating a check box for this option in the PEDIGREE LINK properties page. This may grow a bit complicated, as in addition to artificial insemination, we would want to define anonymous donor. This would then be yet another check-box.
3. The link would may physicaly look like a straight line, directly from the mother, with no father appearing, and the typical 2 parents, 1 child look, would instead be a mother, with some form of dotted line, directly to a child.
4. In addition, there may be a dot (similar to a dot for a picture attachment for the individual, or similar to End Of Family dot) for the mother, which will signify child from single parent only.
