HelloI've had complaints about the way that unknown family members are reported. 1) Since these members are unknown (name, birthday age etc), except that they died as children from childhood diseases, they are shown on the GenoMap as Unknown1 Surname. The second I named Unknown2 Surname etc. There were 8 unknowns and 5 knowns. The rank order is incorrect and cannot be corrected since we don't know the ages. I commented out the PhChildRank at about line 770 in Dictionary.xml. This stops reporting the rank. So now it is not incorrect. Has anyone have a better option? 2) The other problem is that the individual report shows "She had eleven brothers and a sister, named Sandor, Unknown1, Unknown2, Unknown3, Unknown4, Unknown5, Unknown6, Unknown7, Unknown8, Adi, Miki and Miriam (Miri)." If I remove the names from the GenoMap, they are reported as "<Unknown>" for each. How do I remove the eight Unknown? names and somehow still keep the sentence correct? Thanks Frank1

1) From Beta 20 child rank will not be reported if all dates of birth are not entered. From Beta 20b child rank will also not be reported if the Family 'Unknown Child Order' checkbox is selected under the Summary tag.2) You cannot remove the unknown names and still have a correct statement. You can set the 'make label' option on the unknown children. The narrative will then be 'She had three brothers and a sister named .......' This is factually incorrect. However you can then add comments to the effect that she had eight other brothers whose names and dates of birth are unknown who died during childhood.

My intention was that you add this comment to the Comment box under the General tab of each named sibling. Not ideal, but better than nothing.

Hi RonI thought that there might be some field for all the siblings maybe on the family page. But what you are suggesting is manageable. Thanks a lot Frank1

Hello again RonJust installed V2b20. Tried the report generator. For 1) From Beta 20 child rank will not be reported if all dates of birth are not entered. I have a group of 3 siblings in a family tree with only one with a birth date. It still gives the rank order - "youngest of" or "oldest of" etc. Frank1

I have a group of 3 siblings in a family tree with only one with a birth date. It still gives the rank order - "youngest of" or "oldest of" etc. So it does, my apologies. I thought I could test for a missing date of birth with Util.IsNothing(i.Birth.Date) but it appears that I need to use i.Birth.Date.ToStringNarrative = "" instead. I will put the fix in 20b along with the test for the new property Family.Children.OrderUnknown
