On another point, my main argument against 'free text' for the
officiator
field (and others) is that fixed values aid
language
translation via the Dictionary. It would be much more difficult to translate free text in this way.
Hmm... you are thinking of a multilingual
report
in a way that one
genealogist
would
generate reports
several reports, each in different language? If so, this is a good point, and I didn't consider this before.
My argument for 'free text' is/was that the user himself types in the right word,
in his own language
, and thus no translation is even required anymore. Of course this hinders changing the language afterwards.
