Hi,
I'm running a trial version and I want to input Chinese characters into GenoPro. I'm running Win XP under Parallels under Mac OS X. Maybe it's my ignorance in how to input Chinese characters on Windows, but I would appreciate your help. I read from one of your responses that one needs to get a keyboard layout. Where can I obtain that with my software configuration?

I don't know about running xp in that format but the Microsoft Chinese IME comes with XP, when it is installed you can enter chinese characters in genopro. You don't need a special keyboard, and there is a pinyin entry methd in addition to the other chinese formats.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. I have gone ahead and added Chinese and the keyboard etc. in Control Panel. I can change the input to Chinese (ZH) in the Language Bar, but I don't get the pop-up prompt when I start typing. e.g., If I start typing in wo, I was expecting that a pop-up will show me the different characters that would map to that sound. Could there be another setup that I didn't do?

I finally got Chinese input in GenoPro to work on a MacBook (Intel processor) running Mac OS X 10.4.8, with Parallels running Win XP as the guest OS. You'll need an Intel processor for this configuration to work.
The problem was that of configuration. I had chosen Chinese (Hong Kong, SAR) instead of Chinese (PRC) since I wanted to input the traditional form. However, the keyboard layout for Chinese (Hong Kong) is U.S. keybaord (!!) and hence it didn't work. When I changed my input to Chinese (PRC), it uses the Microsoft new Phonetic IME 2002a keyboard layout and that did the trick.
Thanks to moheroy for mentioning Microsoft IME and that's what got me to try the other keyboard.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I remember going through the same steps you did when I first was learning how to do. Right now I just keep both the Taiwan and PRC options, I usually use pinyin, but sometimes I can find an obscure character faster with the other. I still don't have a chinese keyboard.

No problem. It was relatively easy for me to figure out what I did wrong. I don't have a Chinese keyboard either. Don't know if it'll be easier to use. I also keep PRC and Taiwan on the Language Bar. I have tried using pinyin, but it looks like it only shows one character at a time. Can you get a pop-up with different characters that have the same pronunciation? Since sometimes the character that they suggested is not the correct one, I just use the IME keyboard and go through the list using the radical approach.
I have another question. If I don't find the word int their 'dictionary', can I input it myself, using a writing recognition device?
