Good morning

I probably do not have the proper place to ask this question.

I sent a question a few days ago using the ticket system. I have yet to receive an answer.

My question was" I'm a GenoPro owner and I'm going to have my computer reformatted to Vista deleting everything from my hard drives. How do I reload GenoPro following that?"

Thank you

According our ticket system, we have no question from you.

My question was" I'm a GenoPro owner and I'm going to have my computer reformatted to Vista deleting everything from my hard drives. How do I reload GenoPro following that?"

Yes. Just re-install GenoPro from http://www.genopro.com/InstallGenoPro.exe.  In the registration dialog, enter your email and GenoPro will send your registration key.

If you reformat your drive then you must remember to save your data files somewhere. The best place would be to use the GenoPro backup service ie put your data on the GenoPro server. This should be under File Online backup - if you have a recent version of GenoPro. Make sure pictures are saved as well.

After reformat and install of Vista, come back to this forum. I would Google 'GenoPro support' to find it as all your bookmarks/favorites will be wiped out, unless you save them.

From this forum you can download the latest version of GenoPro and also get your Registration key from the Control Panel - providing you can remember your login details.

Some people say Vista does not improve performance although does have better security.

You also have to remember to backup you Photos, maybe on a CD or on a DVD.

I'm still a newbie, and just recently had to reinstall my OS and did back up my files. However when I reinstalled Genpro latest version, all the links are there within each members file for the pictures, but the actual picture is not. Do I have to re-establish the location link, even though it's written up as being there? The picture location is present, and it's ticked to 'Preserve full path' and all of the details are in the Picture List. Not sure how to bring them back without browsing all over again.

Thanks,

Duchess

This is a classical problem when "moving" a family tree to another computer.  Are you aware of the "Relink Pictures" dialog (Menu -> Tools -> Relink Pictures) which may help?

Everything for me is in the same folders and locations as before. I just had to reload my operating system due to a general problem.

The Table Layout will display the picture size and "file not found" if the picture is not there. For trouble shooting, you should click on the menuitem Refresh Picture Properties from the Tools menu.
