disclaimer: the collaboration project have been temporary removed because the special version for the book will not include collaboration, right after that we will launch the GenoPro Gamma where you will be free to try the collaboration.
In a nutshell, the collaboration module works like this: 1) you create a collaboration project online (or convert an existing .gno document into a collaboration project) and then you invite people to modify/collaborate on the family tree. GenoPro takes car of synchronizing the data, so everyone who joined the collaboration project remain up-to date. For instance, you may ask a cousin to complete a branch of your family tree without worrying about him sending the file by email. When your cousin saves, GenoPro also sends a copy to the server and determine what was modified by your cousin, and later sends the changes back to others when they open the family tree. Also the collaboration module uploads pictures associated with a family tree. No need to send pictures by email attachments.

When you invite someone to join a Collaboration Project, do you need to send them the .gno file? How does the invitee get the collaboration file? I'm a bit confused.

The invited person click in the "Join collaboration" project and pick the project he/she has permission to.
When you invite someone you grant him permission to view and/or modify the project. Please note that Collaboration have not been release yet officially and we will be in the Gamma version once ready. There is still a few little bug that will be fixed before moving full time to collaboration. Just 2 days ago, we fixed the long standing Genomap bug on Windows 7.

Thank you JC. I understand the Collaboration Project has not yet been officially released and that you're working out the bugs. Perhaps what I am describing is one of those bugs.
I can't find a collaboration file to edit. I don't think I was very clear in my post above, so I will to try to re-explain.
As a test I created a new account in the forum for myself (809066) and sent a collaboration invite from my rfiorille account to my new 809066 account. I successfully received the invitation in an email and i can see the collaboration project in my 809066 account profile under "Collaboration Project". However, when I click on the project it only takes me to the Collaboration Tab in GenoPro with "Project News", "General Information", "Project Statistics", "Collaborators" and "Invited". I can't find any file to open and edit. Where is the collaboration project file located?
UPDATE: to answer my own question, I now see that I access the collaboration project file from within GenoPro...
Collaboration-->Join Existing Collaboration Project...
Not sure where my brain was!

Is Collaboration project disabled on GenoPro Monica version 2.5.2.7? Is it possible to convert collaboration project back to non-collaboration?

Is it possible to convert collaboration project back to non-collaboration? We need to write the code for this. To detach a file from the collaboration module, open it with WinRAR or WinZip and edit the Data.xml. You will see in the header of the XML document an element <Collaboration> . Just delete it and save Data.xml. Then, within GenoPro, open the file Data.xml using the File Open dialog or drag & drop Data.xml over GenoPro to open it.
