This has been discussed here before but I can not
find
the original
references
.
Importing a gedcom
into GenoPro puts the RESI data into the
Custom tags
as RESI
Place
.
Looking at the
xml files
it looks possible to edit these and create the
Contacts
.
Is there an easier way? In the past I have just edited within GenoPro but this is very tedious with a large number of files

The XML Toolkit has a 'Gedcom fix' to convert RESI tags to contacts. However be aware that GenoPro fails to import multiple RESI tags, only the last one but this can potentially be corrupted as it takes the values from the last subtags it finds. So for example if an INDI has two RESI tags but only the first has a DATE tag GenoPro stores that date with the other details from the second RESI tag, i.e. corrupted
I have recently been working on a better Gedcom import app that is working well but not as yet ready for general use. Maybe in a month or so I will have completed it.

Thanks for memory
update
. It has not failed completely, yet, but at least I knew it could be sorted. Look forward to improved ged import. I have several thousand census records to process
