Pete & Jenny are married. I have a genomap for each oftheir families, and another for them and their descendants. I wish to show bothof them (as mates) on all three genomaps. I have checked the 'Make Label /Exclude From Report' box in the Family tab of both of them on all 3 genomaps;yet still, when I try to connect them as mates on one of the genomaps, it doesnot work; it just switches over to one of the other genomaps. I've evenselected "no Action" under the hyperlinks tab. Is there a way to dothis? (Hereis the file. It is Peter & Jenny Burfiend, in the Carsten & Eliz.Burfiend genomap; and in the Pete & Jenny Burfiend genomap; and in theGoffar genomap.)

I have looked at your file and a modified version is attached which I believe works OK. I have turned the hyperlink actions back to automatic and removed the 'make label' restrictions from the individuals - if you wish to restrict multiple listings in the reports then you should 'make label' on all but one of the family lines (not the individuals).

Hi Support team, I think I am having a similar problem, or at least it seems pretty close.
I built my tree and over time as more and more information comes to hand, I add it in. I'm now over 1000 individuals and span roughly 465 years. In my mind, it had become too unwieldy so I have slowly been "chunking" it into GenoMaps. I've now hit an issue in the reports being generated where I have the same person listed twice (many times). I've tracked this back to the GenoMaps. Here is a scenario: - I'm married with 3 children and I have my wife's family showing on my GenoMap as well
- So, I selected all my wife's ancestors, my wife and myself, but not our children (looking at things from a paternal view) and create a GenoMap with that for her family
- I have a hyperlink setup on my wife on my GenoMap taking me to her on her GenoMap and a hyperlink setup on me on her GenoMap coming back to me on my GenoMap
The problem I now have is there are two individuals (ind00001 & ind00711) for me and two for my wife. When I run the report, we both appear twice. This is a bit of a concern because I want to use the report on my own family website to show the extended family and ask them to give me feedback on any changes needed. It is one of the drawbacks of GenoPro not having a web presence where I can visit my family, login and show them and fix things straight away, but I still find GenoPro the best tool so far. So, how do you suggest I resolve my problem? Am I doing something wrong with the way I have setup my GenoMaps? Do I need to change something in my reporting? Thanks,

When you create a hyperlink a second id will be created for that individual, so there is nothing unusual in your set-up. However, from your explanation I am guessing that you have copied over the Family Properties [ marriage] line between yourself and your wife to the new GenoMap. When you run a report on the whole document, the 'two' marriages both get reported as well as the individuals concerned. This will occur with all duplicated marriages in your document. There are several ways to prevent this: 1. Only run the report on a single GenoMap - however, this does not solve the problem for the whole document 2. On one of the Family Properties (preferably on the new GenoMap) click the box 'Make Label / Exclude from Report' under the Summary tab. This will result in the individuals in the marriage only being listed once if a report is run on the whole document. but will result in them not being listed at all under option 1. 3. Preferably, do not list the marriage on both GenoMaps. In my case I would keep the marriage on your GenoMap (this would also show your children) and hyperlink your wife to her own family GenoMap.

I think I get that. On my GenoMap have me, my wife and 3 kids (and the rest of the extended family). On my wife's GenoMap, don't show me or that my wife is married. On each GenoMap, hyperlink (automatic when I "Move to GenoMap") my wife to herself on the other GenoMap. Example images below. |
