I
am
trying
a
free
version
of
the
program
and
I
would
like
to
display
names
on
the
GenoMap
as
follows
:
First
/
Alternative
"
Nick
"
Last
I
don
'
t
see
this
option
in
the
drop
-
down
menu
-
is
there
a
way
for
me
to
&
nbsp
;
customize
and
add
&
nbsp
;
my
own
options
&
nbsp
;
to
the
drop
down
menu
?&
nbsp
; &
nbsp
;
This
is
great
-
I
am
continually
discovering
new
features
and
additional
information
...
in
one
of
the
related
posts
below
I
can
see
that
it
is
possible
to
customize
an
individuals
name
in
the
General
screen
,
but
I
can
'
t
figure
out
how
to
select
all
to
customize
the
appearance
of
the
name
globally
-
am
I
missing
something
?&
nbsp
;

As
you
have
discovered
,
it
is
possible
to
customise
the
Display
Name
on
an
individual
basis
,&
nbsp
;
but
&
nbsp
;
you
cannot
customise
the
default
option
.
However
,
Dan
has
been
known
to
add
extra
default
options
into
GenoPro
in
the
past
.

Eventually
the
default
display
name
will
be
a
combo
-
drop
down
with
free
text
. &
nbsp
;
Internally
,
GenoPro
uses
a
template
to
format
the
names
and
this
template
could
easily
be
stored
as
free
text
instead
of
a
number
.
For
instance
,
the
formatting
First
/
Alternative
"
Nick
"
Last
would
be
expressed
as
%
F
/ %
A
"%
N
" %
L

In
the
twelve
years
since
this
thread
began
,
have
we
gotten
any
closer
to
being
able
to
freely
choose
the
default
name
display
format
?
FWIW
,
I
would
like
names
in
my
tree
to
be
display
ed
like
this
:
Title
First
Middle
Last
Suffix
&
lt
;
line
break
&
gt
; (
Nickname
)
It
'
s
frustrating
that
I
can
'
t
get
nicknames
to
display
outside
what
we
(
Americans
)
would
think
of
as
the
"
legal
"
name
.
All
the
formats
built
into
GenoPro
remind
me
of
cheesy
posters
in
local
political
campaigns
(
VOTE
FOR
BERNARD
"
BUD
"
SMITH
FOR
DOG
CATCHER
!).
I
realize
I
can
manually
format
each
person
'
s
name
individually
,
but
with
thousands
of
people
in
my
tree
please
don
'
t
ask
me
to
do
that
.
