GenoPro 2016 uses Windows APIs to generate the EMF. There is no parameters to increase the resolution.
GenoProX has a built-in PDF generator. The module generating PDFs has different resolutions for the quality of the images stored in the PDF. We are working on GenoProX...

As GenoproX did not come in the last 9 years, and is now unlikely to ever come, is there anybody that knows how to output an EMF with higher resolution pictures ?

If you want to print/see your genogram in a large format without image distortion, then I suggest you increase the pixel size of the images in the genogram.
E.g. when using Picture Mode to display images of individuals on the genogram, change the size of all objects by selecting all (Ctrl/A) and then right click on a selected item and set size to the desired level (large, extra large, jumbo etc.). This of course will cause the genogram to become crowded, but this can largely be overcome by inflating the genogram (Ctrl/A then F9 or right click then chose Inflate). The inflate operation will need to be repeated until satisfactory spacing ins achieved. Some pedigree links may also need to be repositioned as well. This approach increases the intrinsic size of the genogram, and if sizing of objects is increased to the correct level should allow the genogram to be printed at a large size without scaling, so images should appear actual size.

Thank you. You are always helpful and made me discover the "inflate" feature. I really believe one of the main reason I like GenoPro is due to your work. However in this particular case, the resolution of the images in the genopro view is already good as it is. I already have them as Large or evan bigger. The problem is that when saving in a vector EMF format, for some reason the pictures are resampled at lower resolution.

In my tests I did not detect any loss of resolution when using Export to Metafile. Have you tried opening the .emf with an application that opens it as a vector image?
I checked my results by opening a test exported metafile (.emf) with LibreOffice Draw. In that application I was able to scale up the image to fit an ISO A0 page size (48.81 x 33.11 inches, or 1189 x 841mm) without noticeable loss of quality. I printed this A0 drawing from LibreOffice Draw to a PDF image with again A0 page size using Microsoft's 'Print to PDF' printer. The .gno, .emf and .pdf are attached. Also the jpg image used in the .gno (couple.jpg)
