GenoPro customers (or user with non-expired registration key) can now view their publication statistics from their account. The page give you a few charts about unique visitors (unique IP) and pages view (.htm or .html files). The statistics chart are updated once per hour.

Interesting idea, so I had a look at mine and found only blank frames and no details. Is it too early or is there a problem with the stats ?

No problem with mine. I was interested to see how many people had found the sites already - so although my first thought about statistics was "Why bother?" they have already shown to be interesting

iaintait (4/5/2006) Interesting idea, so I had a look at mine and found only blank frames and no details. The statistics are now visible, the problem was linked with url encoding since your report has spaces encoded as %20 . http://familytrees.genopro.com/iaintait/Beath%20and%20Tait%20%20Report/

Wow! I was stunned to see how many visits there have been recently to my tree. I had no idea that it would be so high as I had expected perhaps 20 or 30 at most and never imagined 4000! Thanks for fixing the page.

4000 is probably a bot (Google, Msn, Yahoo!...) that crawled out the entire web site. Check out the unique visitors for more conservative number as the bot will count for only 1 visitor.

I see what you mean, as I hadn't scrolled down far enough and had noticed 4000 pages visited in March, but now see that the daily figures are more modest though still gratifying.

It's a great feature. Thank you Dan. I would also like to recommend another stats generator that can be downloaded from http://www.weppos.com/asg/en/default.asp But - you must have your own server or your host server must support ASP. I'm not sure if Genopro supports ASP features for users, So I use my own Server. I've added a short code to my Skin code in genopro, and I can get very detailed statistics about the visitors of my website. Look at a demo at: http://www.weppos.com/stats/statistiche.asp The demo is in Italian but there is also an English and an Hebrew Version

beraha (4/7/2006) It's a great feature. Thank you Dan.Thanks. In fact, my brother JC wrote all of it . We do support ASP, but tend to favor ASP.NET.

There is lots of web statistic tool around but they can't be applied for familytrees.genopro.com since publication statistic of all users would be mixed up if we use IIS log directly. Adding a page counter to each page would required server side execution such as ASP or PHP and it's disabled for security reason. Even with ASP enable that wouldn't apply to each report; we plan to have plenty of different report in the future. The stats will improved over time for sure, the current stat are also very lightweight for the server, I'm not sure for weppos but many of the visitors analysis become CPU intensive over times. You are welcome to tell us your suggestions how to improve the service.

Hello J-C Morin, I have an account on google analytics. I added my scriptid (_uacct = "UA-XXX") on the home & heading page. it permits me to see from where people are connecting to the website. I am interested by this function because I am waiting people from Russia, Georgia, Armenia, US, Egypt to connect.. I know you are working to retrieve more stat tools... Maybe, you could add the geo map overlay on your tool stat ? I can not add my scriptid to all the pages as you are doing by script. So, I can not use Google analytics to see the stat for pages, … and the other stat tools available on Google analytics.
One idea >> Add a _uacct field on the backoffice profile of Genopro, waiting for the new genopro stat version ..Is the case there is one ID, the script will be duplicated for each key. My last Idea, is not a solution .. I was thinking to replace the _uacct ID used on your database for my profile by the one from my Google account ; ) oups .. By the way, I am very well surprised by the new beta version.. A lot of good work have be done.. Thank you. Chris

You can customize you report to include any tracking you want. If you look carefully all reports already have the Google analytics tracker but they referring to our own tracking. You are welcome to add another tracker for a specific publication. At the moment the statistics per report are very basic, since we want those statistics to be fast while requiring little processing. We may improve those in the future.

JcMorin (10/18/2006) You can customize you report to include any tracking you want.Just thought I'd let you know, there is a way for non-customers to have this too, though with HTML code, see Pencil Tree, my testing page, to see what i'm talking about.
