I currently export the GenoMaps to metafiles and convert to jpeg for display on my web site and I wish to create hot spots for each individual to and from the images. I can access the position of each individual using Position but this is based on 0,0 being somewhere in the middle of the image, I know the XML export gives the BoundaryRectangle for the GenoMaps which gives me the offsets I require, can this be accessed directly in VB as it would save a lot of flapping about.

Yes, XML can be accessed, for example using MSXML although other libraries are available. I have used MSXML to access GenoPro XML in some the the Report skins (VBScript and JScript).

However you could perhaps save even more 'flapping about' by using the SVG GenoMap images produced as part of the Narrative Report instead of your jpg images derived from metafiles.  The SVG images  can be displayed by all modern browsers and the GenoMap SVGs have normalised coordinates and Individuals and Family lines are already 'hotspots'  with hyperlinks within the SVG.

You would need to remove the navigation controls and amend the links but the job is mostly done. SVG is a form of XML and easily edited. If you do go this route do use the Latest Narrative Report skin.

Using the SVG charts is excellent! I had to make few amendments to fit in with my website and a little problem with blanking of the image at initialisation but all quickly resolved and now on-line at butlinheritage.co.uk
