Hi

Small problem - I received an email informing me of the new 2016 version & informing me it is a paid upgrade of $US15. It also quoted my reg key for 2011.

Downloaded & installed new version then walked through the Registration Wizard. I double checked it was picking up the correct 2011 reg key.

Unfortunately it does not give me the $15 upgrade price - it starts at full $49 Single User licence.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Here are screen shots of the process.

When I try on my machine, I get the $15 price.  Maybe your firewall is blocking the application GenoPro 2016 to access the server GenoPro.com

Can you try the Check for Updates from the Help menu?  This dialog will connect to server GenoPro.com and query for any new updates.  If you get an error with the Check for Updates, then it means your machine cannot connect to GenoPro.com

You are right - something is blocking it - see screenshot below.

Sorry, I should have mentioned this in my first post - I am running GenoPro through Wine on Linux Mint. There is no firewall or antivirus active. I'm thinking a permissions problem but have no idea how to track or fix it. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi Phil,
I made an update for you: http://www.genopro.com/download/InstallGenoProPhil.exe

It is very difficult for me to test if the code works because I do not use Wine. Can you please try this update and let me know if you get the price of $15?  If so, please DO NOT PURCHASE your upgrade of GenoPro 2016; I will give you for free the package SPONSOR GenoProX Expert as a token of my appreciation for taking time to report the issue.

Thanks.

Yes!! Works beautifully - see screen-shot below.

Thank you very much for your prompt replies and action - it is almost as appreciated as much as your offer of the package SPONSOR GenoProX Expert.

I'm so glad I checked my mail before going to bed.

Cheers

Phil

Thanks for your quick response.  I sent you your package for GenoPro 2016 and GenoProX.

By the way, I will also update the icons, so in case the transparency does not work well, they will look better.  The whole UI on Windows has been one hack after another.  GenoProX is built using the Qt framework with uses PNG images with alpha channels.

Brilliant - thank you again.

I can now continue documenting our dodgy ancestors.

Cheers

Phil

Are you using GenoPro for animal pedigree?  If so, I would love to hear suggestions for you?  GenoProX will have a module to do professional animal pedigree, and I wonder what type of information you wish to store for an animal.

No - sorry. That was 'dodgy' as in 'not so illustrious' (I'm in Australia & have a couple of links to the original convicts) not 'doggy'.

Thanks again for all your help.

I received no error message and was charged the full amount of USD49.  I tried to upgrade 3 times and received the same message each time so was in effect snowballed into the upgrade.  Does GenoPro offer a refund?
By GenoProSupport - Thursday, November 12, 2015
Of course GenoPro offers a refund on accidental double purchases.  In fact, if we notice a double purchase, we refund it without asking, because we know the second purchase was an error.  In your case Peter, you have been billed only once.  I checked the merchant terminal and there is only one transaction from you.  If you ever have been billed more than once, please send me a screenshot of your credit card statement and I will call to make sure you got your refund.

On the side note, I refunded you $34 because your upgrade of GenoPro 2016 should have been $15.  We have a technical bug where some of the old Golden Keys (purchased before 2003) are nor recognized by the script calculating the discount.  As a solution, I added to your account the Supporter package of GenoProX, so you should have received an email as a receipt you are a GenoProX supporter.

I want to personally thank you for being such a long GenoPro user of at least 14 years, and also for supporting our effort to rebuild GenoProX from scratch.  A few days ago, we sent our newsletter only to our GenoProX users.  Since you missed it, feel free to read our development update at http://www.genopro.com/emails/GenoProX-Updates-2015-10.aspx

For those who paid $49 and may have been eligible to the discount at $15, this is my answer: before launching GenoProX, we will run a script in our database to make sure those eligible to the $15 upgrade and give them a credit of $34 of any GenoProX product they wish to purchase.  It is very difficult for us to verify every transaction, however we will make sure those who were entitled an upgrade at $15, however paid extra because they were not aware, or forgot to enter their registration key during the upgrade, will get value for their money.
