See attached. I cannot add mother, father, and siblings. I can't build my genogram because everything is gray'ed out. Help please I upgraded and paid so I don't understand why I am having this issue. Thank you.

This tab shows a family summary, however it is always read-only. You add family members by clicking on an individual (square or circle) or a family (the horizontal line) and add parents (P) or children (S or D).

I tried that. Can you screen shot and give me an example because it is seriously not allowing me to do anything. All I can do is select new, create two parents and a child. That's it. I have no idea how to do the rest. There are some significant changes since I last used this software so any insight you could provide would be helpful. Thank you.

Ok, can you check if your .gno file is not read-only. If you copy the file from a CD to your hard disk, then Windows automatically makes the file read-only.
The read-only is at the bottom of the Edit menu.

I just checked and it's not read-only. I also downloaded from the internet.

Can you move objects on the main screen? For instance, can you click on a circle and move her with the mouse?

Yes I can. See attached, but this is as far as I can go. I can't figure out how to add or modify.

GenoPro 2016 has a Contextual Toolbar which should be enabled by default. If not present, you may enable it from Menu -> Tools -> Options... -> Display Contextual Toolbar.

Dan This shows the problems of different experience leading to problems. I find the original start page with grey hints more useful for a beginner than a Contextual Toolbar. It is not obvious to a beginner how to use it. Perhaps the answer is to have both: the grey instructions which disappear when you start typing as well as the toolbar. Could add hints on using the toolbar to the notes
