The report generator can create a text file with all the unique surnames. There are two other alternatives. - In the properties if the individual, right-click on the surname and select Copy Drop List to Clipboard. This action will copy all unique surnames to the clipboard, so you can paste them to Notepad or a spreadsheet. You can do the same action for any field.
- The other alternative is to use the Table Layout. In the Table Layout, you can use the same copy command, or use the Find & Replace dialog. The Find & Replace dialog has a Pick button which will generate a list of unique surnames. You can copy this list to the clipboard too.

You can use a similar technique to that described previously in this post by GenoProSupport. But first copy just the required tab/familytree to a new temporary .gno, i.e. Copy it all Ctrl/A Ctrl/C, create new .gno Ctrl/N and paste it Ctrl/V. Then use Table Layout, Contacts.. on the new .gno. Double click on one of the email addresses, then right click and choose Copy Drop List to Clipboard. Q.E.D.
